Default Car Dealerships?

Anyone think it would be possible to talk a dealer down around $2,500? I found a car i like , but it is just a little to expensive. If i could talk him down maybe 2k, i would go for it. It's a Hawk so i think maybe they won't go down. Should i even try?

Seems like a fair price to me actually. $24,500 would be nice. Getting him down to $23K just isn't going to happen if he knows what he has.

You might want to find out if he's going to accept your offer before you take the loan out.

id just be straight with him tell him you got exactly what you watn to pay and say im ready 2 buy now if ya can work me this price out the door if he tries to talk you up just say i would but i dont have the money and dont let him bs you into their load packages beacouse with buy downs and other dealer tricks he can really screw you and still sell you the car for the price you requested thats why id go out the door on the price and the very last thing id say (after comming to a finalised price on the car OUT THE DOOR) is right now im getting a loan thru my bank and i have 6% can ya beat this id usally say 5.5 % if im already at 6% beacouse if ya say te best i got is 6% their gonna fire back with a 5.75% beacouse they know theill win your businness and they dont have to go too ow s theill make money offer the higher intrest loan.... so whatever rae youve nego. already with the bank drop it by like 1\2% and see if they can beat it if not then ya know your good BUT BRING THIS UP LAST!!!

now if ya are tring just to get the lowest price ya can play the bs game and low ball him with a hard 20k offer and hold your guns and try to settle on 22k in a month if ya dont get out bid but if ya get 23k for an 02 hawk depanding ot the options thats not a bad price and fi ya happy paying 23,xxx for it then hell to make it a good sale id just call him up and be totally straight with him say " i have 23,xxx and not a penny more, if ya are willing to accept this ill close the deal RIGHT NOW" if he declines try back at the end of month chances are they got about 17-20k into it if its in mint cond.

I think i am going to throw 23k at them. Like you said, "not a penny more". Then do the waiting game if they decline.

first of all are you in a state where its cold? second ,thats to much for that car.Im from mich. and iI bought my 2002 collectors ed. t. a. In florada at a dealership for 27000.00 o.t.d.. they wanted 32000.00. It had only 6000 miles om It.I gave my offer over the phone and within 2 hours they called me back and asked me when I wanted to come and get It.hit them with 22.500.00 and wait. they will call you back with an offer. do not pay over 24000.00 for It even if It Is a hawk. them basterds only gave the poor sucker about 17 or 18 tho. for It any way.24 is still kinda high but that has to be OUT THE DOOR.!!

I would bet that it was a trade in and they gave someone about 19k for it. If it was an auction I would also say around 19k they paid for it, possibly a little less. Used cars is where the dealers make $$$. They can finance people all day long at a price substantially higher than they paid.

If you go in there with a check and tell them you want that car today and this is all you have, they will take it. They may decline you at first. But if you stick to your guns and walk away they will say "let me talk to my manager". He'll either do it for you or you will be called within a week.

Like yourself, other people know when they want a new car. They are the ones dealers don't make as much on because they do research and stick to their guns. The people they make a killing on is the average Joe walking into the dealership to "browse". They sell most cars to people in this category. Once your their the salesman becomes your best friend, tells you how bad *** the car is and how "this car fits you" "we can get you in this today". etc..

They get your mind to think, your adrenaline to pump and then they stick it to you

depends on how bad you want it, and are you prepared to walk away? Dealers can sense that. I know around here if you walk away, the car is gone, someone else wanted it more than you did.

they will call you back.. just wait on your offer. They WANT to sell cars, and lets face it... there aren't too many people out there that want muscle cars compared to the crappy econoboxes out there or family sedans...

Yep , being how bad the market is on these cars i will not pay what they are asking. I will wait it out, and this car has been for sale the whole time i have been deployed which has been 4 months now. They are probably wanting to get rid of it. So how much should i offer them on the first shot? 22k, 22.5k, 23k?
