Default new exhaust! :)

Getting ready to buy a set of headers and new y-pipe. Ive already decided to go with the Kooks headers and y. What i was wondering tho is weither to go with the 1 7/8 or the 1 3/4? Also, while the car is down and the exhaust is out what other upgrades should be made? motor mounts, tune-up etc.
And i almost forgot, i plan on running the stock cat-back, should i go with a catted y or an ory? i dont want any rasp if possible (emissions is not a problem in my state)
Thanks in advanced

kooks are nice. i have 1 3/4. ive been told thats enough on a stock cubed ls1. others might disagree. go without cats if you can. just get a good tune.

there is a link on here where he adds a powerstick into the I pipe and puts it in backwards and supposedly that eliminated the rasp from his LT/ORY set up...I'll see if I can find the link. You should see more power when you eliminate the cats too...

edit: haha search powerstick in the search bar and it's the first one.

hopefully this helps. I'll probably be doing this in the winter, I just put LT's and an ORY on mine and even without the tune, it feels a lot healthier then what it was

I would definitely opt for 1 7/8, just in case you plan to step up to bigger cubes later on.

like said before if your gunna go bigger later go with 1 7/8 but other wise 1 3/4 should be fine.

as far as other mods i would do motor mounts and if u havent done recently i would do plugs and wires since its all there

i went with 1 3/4, a few years later here i am wishing i would have gone 1 7/8.

I like my catted Y. and you might as well do the motor mounts, plugs and wires while your there!

cookba has a point, when you have the coils and headers off its so easy to just do the plugs and wires. it's an extra 10 mins, i didnt do my motor mounts, and i do sort of regret it since they rattle the floorboards a bit....
