The 6th Annual All-GM Oktoberfest at the beautiful Silver Springs park in Ocala, Florida will be Saturday, October 1st 2011. For those wanting to make a weekend out of it, Friday activities include a cruise from Ocala to Cedar Key Friday morning plus NPD's 180 count car collection will be open for viewing. The Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing is about 10 miles south off I-75 if you need even more car stuff before heading home on Sunday.

The 5th annual show saw 560 cars and trucks enter the park for a sunny Saturday with temps in the mid 80s. 42 cars joined us for the 3rd time on the Friday morning cruise from Ocala to Cedar Key.

Just for some background, NPD has also held a Mustang and Fords show in January at Silver Springs, a nature theme park in Ocala, Florida, for the past 17 years. We've always experienced great turnouts on both shows (close to 1,000 cars and trucks usually attend the Ford show each year, which is held over a full weekend), and besides all the rides to check out there is the attraction of having other things to do besides check out the cars, such as glass-bottom boats to check out the natural springs, the Lost River Voyage, Endangered Species Carousel, Lighthouse ride, World of Bears, a kids Kritter Korral petting zoo, and more. Check out www.silversprings.com (http://www.silversprings.com/) for more on the park and all its attractions. We will also have a few select manufacturers in attendance to display their latest products and answer questions.

The first 500 vehicles to pre-register by September 26 will receive free entry into the park for car, driver and one passenger on Saturday. Any entry registering after that date, the day of show or beyond the free-car threshold may purchase the show package for their GM car or truck for $21.00, and that still includes passes into the park for car/truck, driver and one passenger on Saturday October 1st. PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to attend but not show a car, you'll be subject to the standard park entrance fees ($29.99/general, $24.99 for children ages 3-10 as of January 1st 2011).

Registration is available for all GM models early or late, as well as all GM-powered street rods and exotics. Everything from bone stock to highly modified is welcome! http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.ls1tech.com/get/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif

Also, be aware that this show is held inside the Silver Springs park. "Coming and going" with your car during show hours is neither practical nor allowed. Registration closes at 10 AM sharp, and awards will be presented at 4 PM. Don’t be late, as you will not be permitted to enter the park with your car after 10 AM.

High Performance Pontiac, Super Chevy, Chevy High Performance, Camaro Performers and Muscle Car Review magazines plan to be in attendance as well (feature cars have been "discovered" from this show and our Ford & Mustang show in the past).

Friday activities:

We will host a cruise from the NPD headquarters in Ocala, Florida to Cedar Key Friday morning. The cruise will leave NPD between 9:30-9:45 AM. Cars begin assembling at 8 AM. Please arrive at NPD’s parking-lot fueled-up, and ready to go. Upon our return to NPD from Cedar Key (we typically have lunch on the water at Cedar Key), the opportunity to tour/browse NPD’s extensive private car and truck collection will be available (180 cars and trucks).

The registration form is on our website www.npdlink.com (http://www.npdlink.com/). Go to http://shop.autocraftinvestments.com/index.php?p=page&page_id=ss_gm (http://shop.autocraftinvestments.com/index.php?p=page&page_id=ss_gm) and click the "registration form" button for a pdf version of the registration form. Print out a copy, fill in your information and mail it in!

Shoot me an e-mail at dputnam@npdlink.com (dputnam@npdlink.com) if you have any questions.

Hope you join us this fall!

Registration forms are in from the printer and will be going out to last year's participants this week. The form SHOULD also be up on the NPD website by the end of next week (notice SHOULD is in caps, as I have no control over the web but will try my hardest to get it up a.s.a.p.).

And some padded grass for Mark. ;)

You should be fine, I've been there with 1 1/4" of Ground clearance at the lowest point. Off roading no, but there is some grass to be negotiated.

Sorry, been on vacation...

As Travis said, there should be adaquate ground clearance. The entry and exit are a paved one lane road, and depending on class you might have to travel some grass. If you're not sure of clearance as you enter the park, just let a parking attendant know (there will be 8-12 of them scattered throughout the park, and our main point man is located just inside the main gate).

One month to go, we already have 850+ entries and room for more. Remember you can either pre-register (by September 26th) or the day of show for the same $21 price (includes entry for the vehicle and 2 people into the park). Don't forget the NPD car collection will be open for viewing Friday from 8-5, and we have the cruise to Cedar Key leaving Friday morning from NPD's Ocala location. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Might want to post up in the Florida section. I have a similar thread there and there is already a few people coming up together from Tampa. You might find some coming from further south...

We have passed 925 pre-registered rides! Although pre-registration ends Monday the 26th, you can still register on the day of show for the same $21 price (includes entry for the vehicle and 2 people into the park).

Don't forget the Friday morning cruise on September 30th from NPD to Cedar Key, as well as the NPD car collection open for viewing Friday from 8-5.

Hope to see a ton of LS enthusiasts next week!

Thanks to everyone that came out to the show. We had 621 rides on the field, and the quality of the stuff (with only a few exceptions) was awesome! As per the usual, I was running around so much with work duties I didn't get to see very many rides (except some as they came rolling in), so if I didn't get to say hi, shake your hand or see your ride, my apologies. Those are my only vices with this show, but again I'm getting paid to work at a kick-ass show so it could be much worse!!!

Again, thanks to everyone that came out to the show! With great weather and kick ass cars, what more could you want? Hope we can do it all together in 2012!!!

Derek
