Ok..LOL...Thanks!...I can tell you about engines all day, but not oil...I figured I should learn about one of the most vital things in/on an engine...

Ya, Patman always has great oil info - I would definitely trust his input. Also www.bobistheoilguy.com is a great resource for everything oil-related.

Like fulton said, go here http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/ and dont bother the oil master while he's sleeping or playing with the young one.

Sorry for the late response guys.
That link provided above is the best source on the net for oil info, by far. Check it out and see, the best part is the used oil analysis section, where you can compare how oils perform in different cars.
The LS1 likes an oil which flows well on startup but also has a viscosity closer to the top end of the 30wt range, so something with a viscosity of close to 12cst at 100c. So my 4 top recommendations are Castrol 0w30 (only the German made Syntec), Amsoil 0w30 or 5w30, or Redline 5w30. But there are a lot of other good oils too. I'm not a fan of Mobil 1 0w30,5w30,10w30 though, they are on the thin end of the 30wt scale. If you insist on M1, go with their 0w40, or their new 5w40.
