Default I Just Got State Ref Tonight....

Well it finally happened. I say finally because I've been pulled over like 7 times now for my exhaust so it was only a matter of time. But I had literally just sold my TV wall mount & was driving down the street & saw a group of police cars in a parking lot that had already pulled someone over. As I began to pass the cop shined his flashlight at me & I knew I was about to get pulled over! So the cop eventually gets behind me & pulls me over. Brings up that he thinks hes pulled me over before last year for my exhaust & no front license plate!?!? Mentions my exhaust & why I have it cut etc. Has me rev my engine, pop the hood & then has me get out to look under my car for cats (said my car sounds like it has some Nascar exhaust LMAO) long story short he writes me up for

27156 (B) Illegal emission (no catalytic converters)
27150 (A) Modified exhaust

So I've heard that I can either pay around $500? or put everything back to stock & see the state referee? On the back of my ticket there's a sticker that says State referee certification required no officer sign off? (section 43012 California health & safety code)

GOTTA LOVE CALIFORNIA!!!

Well I think its either I go back to stock & go to the state referee & have it be passed or people say you can pay $500 but I don't know what all happens after that?

I think its more around $800 if you dont want to change everything. I got an "Illegal exhaust" ticket. I have cats, It was just to loud. No State ref stamp. Changed my cat back to stock, CHP signed it off, and $45 processing fee.

i think the ticket is around $1200. My Non correctable tint ticket was $200. I thought with the budget cuts there were no more ref stations operating?

Even a "Non Correctable" tint ticket can be corrected. All you had to do is take off tint, have CHP sign it off and Choose to see the judge. Judge will let go. No need to pay the non-correctable fee.

So the myth of getting caught with no cats is debunked?? I have always heard like a $10,000 fine & they impound your car.

Ill probably just put back on all the stock parts which I've kept in my garage. Get it all past & then go with a different exhaust route.

STOP BLAMIN THE STATE...GET OUTTA CALI THEN.. Fine for catalytic converters is 500 plus last i heard btw x2 so 1000 plus . Secondly If you had dummy cats you would be okay. My advice to you is after you pass ref, hollow out some cats so next time they think you have them and you'll be okay, run a stock exhuast with a e cutout. I ran a ms4 car 4400 stall e cutout and stock exhuast and never been cited been pulled over but cops usually are cool or they just look for cats. I was told once my car was like the batmobile because the cop heard my car open exhuast and then quite because of the electric cutout.

As far as the sticker goes, you must remove your car off all public streets, Schedule a hearing with the state ref, You are only allowed to drive your car to the state ref.

Removing the Cats to get another 3 to 5 HP is really not worth it. Why even bother?

You're looking at it from the wrong angle. Why add cats if you have LTs? It's illegal either way.
