Default Anyone know how to best measure the clearence in a 4L60e low reverse clutch pack ??

I tried following the ASTG Manual but always get different readings.
So I tired this way (see below).

Does this seem correct, to those out there who know how to build trannies??

its not really adjustable as long as you have the cushion plate and the na steel on top of that then friction, steel . . . . ending with a friction on top its right as long as you used the 4l60e clutches and steels. should be 5 frictions also

From what i know is is adjustable the both the frictions and steels come in different thicknesses. here is an example of some selective steels.

# 74134B Steel, 4L60E, Low / Reverse clutch, .049, TURBULATOR with holes SELECTIVE thin, Turbulator steels, 1997-up …… Common brand - ALTO
# 74134BA Steel, 4L60E, Low / Reverse clutch, .067, TURBULATOR with holes Common, Turbulator steels, 1997-up …… Common brand - ALTO
# 74134BB Steel, 4L60E, Low / Reverse, 4 SLOT .089, TURBULATOR with holes SELECTIVE Thick, Turbulator steels, 1997-up …… Common brand - ALTO

So if you don't know what your talking about save yourself the embarrassment of posting misinformation.

well if it were me i would get a mic and measure the steels that came from the unit and measure the frictions that came from the unit and get those same steels and frictions and replace with those. I have never built a transmission before so i will just step out lol

I think what predator is saying is its not a real critical clutch pack as far as clearance as its only on in manual l1 and reverse. However the way you are measuring should be fine , I like this pack on the high side considering it spends most of its life freewheeling and you don't want much drag there.

Thanks for the reply performabuilt.

This is a little looser then the original pack, about 0.10" so it should be OK then ?
