So I have an A4 with 110,xxx miles catback, volant, suspension work. with 275's on the front and 315 NItto 555r's on the back also with 2.73 gears currently. I dynod 280 and I know i also have clogged cats. I just feel like i have NO power, is all of this adding up? It seems quite difficult to chrip even 2nd gear and I even have problems doing burnouts..

I have 3.73's , headers, ORY, underdrive, plugs, wires all waiting to go on the car.. but as it sits now.. does it make sense i have no power..?

I think the gears are the main issue and probably your clogged cats. I have 3.23s (A4) and I can light them up no problem. Then again it's an '02 with 21k miles.

install the headers and y-pipe (delete cats) and i promise you can do it.

My brother had a 02 with2.73 and could light the tires up easy!

well for what I have right now.. does it seem like a "dud" or pretty consistent with whats normal

It's impossibile to determine if your performance level is "normal" when you already know that something is wrong with the car. Clogged cats can cost you anywhere between 1% to 100% of overall power depending on how much flow is blocked, so this thread is pointless until you fix this variable.

Take care of this issue before you worry about anything else.

I currently have 3.73's

which is it, 2.73 or 3.73? if it feels that lousy, could have a worn out torque convertor

and yeah im hoping its the cats.. i know they are pretty bad because if i get on it hard enough really quick i can stall out the car. i've done it on the road and on the dyno

280 RWHP is nothing to sneeze at, but a bit low with these cars. Now take all those mods in your sig and put em on the car!

they were supposed to go on last month, stupid college bills -_-

but back on the topic.. does anyone think there could be anything else wrong with the car??

280 rwhp with a basically stock car w/ plugged up cats? Seems like you're not doing too bad at all, as mentioned the plugged cats could cost you 1% or 100% depending on the amount of blockage, so if you think you're low on power then that's probably it.

What we should be asking is if you know there's a problem then why are you asking if you have a problem? lol

haha well i guess i just wanted to make sure my thoughts were right, i tend to overthink everything, so just wanted to make sure i wasn't overthinkin my car too :]

Trust me man, those gears and that exhaust will make all the difference in the world. Get a tune while you're at it and it'll be a whole new car.

Fix the known problems, then re-evaluate performance.

i dont think its a performance issue at all....i think u have a good tire issue... 315 nt555 arent gonna blow away like a stock 245...or even a 275... I have headers, true duals, !cats, !EGR, !AIR, SLP lid/filter, 4.10's with 315 NT-01's and i dont spin em either...only time i can is if i slip the clutch a little in first and theyll chirp in second, but for the most part, they HOOK. before the 315's, i had some general POS 245's and in first and second u could burn em off all day long....

bds001

you have 315 drag radials and 2.73's......enough said

Like subbie said if you can just hollow those cats out if you arent able to install the rest now.

All what i was thinking, thanks a lot guys! If i hollow out the cats.. can I still sell them on here to those guys that take cats?? or will I lose all the "goods" by hollowing?

and screw you 01ssreda4 :D haha

They will be worthless once hollow, unless you sell the empty shells as scrap metal. You might make $3 that way.

I figured that, I'll hold off then, could use that extra 80 bucks for install fees ;]

Ditch those fucking boring.... good for absolutly nothing but gas "GEARS"...I don't care what anyone say's...Those gears were not supposed to be made for out cars...They flat out suck ass...Shit-i-est 2nd gear pull their is...I had the same problem with those gears... until 3:73s came along..just sayen...2:73s are only good for gas and driving a decent rpm at 140mph...

get some 3.73's and longtubes, and change your fluids, sparkplug/plug wires and maybe a street tune and it will turn into a whole new animal!

This is obviously the opinion of someone that did gears before a stall.

3.73s and a stock stall is boring compared to 2.73s and a 3500+ stall. ;)

3.23 really is the ideal ratio for these cars on the street though, when mixed with a 3500-4000 stall. 3.73 just makes traction more difficult and offers very modest track gains once you already have a stall.

HAVE YOU TRIED POWERBRAKING? PULL THE CAT OR HOLLOW IT OUT AND SEE. A CLOGGED CAT WILL SLOW YOU DOWN!

smog is the only issue if you remove the cats.. however there is a cat delete kit that you can buy for 200$ that comes with an aftermarket y that will still bolt up to your stock exhaust, i was thinking about running them untill i have to smog again, i just didnt wanna put them on and have to worrie about the car leaning out or something.. im still not sure about all the computer stuff in the ls1s. hopeing i could run them no problem.. they have the hookups for the o2 censors too, just an idea, i had stock clogged cats and went to a high flow cat.. although i heard they make little to no difference, i feel like its a little quicker.. maybe its a mindset..haha
