Gen 5 Camaro External Bolt-On Tech - FREE intake manifold for emissions test volunteer - 2010 Camaro in California

The company I work for (see below) manufactures a composite intake manifold (see below) for the LS family of engines. I'm not sure how site sponsor rules work so I won't say any brand names. Most people on this forum are probably already familiar with this intake. The intake is known by a series of letters - the first two of which are a prominent part of the name LS1Tech. I'm not trying to sell or promote anything. I am looking for a volunteer.

We need a 2010 V8 Camaro for an emissions test. The aftermarket intake will be professionally installed. The car will then be tested on a chassis dyno in a professional laboratory setting. The car will be "driven" on a simulated emissions test course as tailpipe emissions are captured. It is not testing for power or 1/4 mile times or anything aggressive. Just sampling emissions. At the end of the test, the aftermarket intake will be given to the car owner to keep.

Here are some of the requirements:

- 2010 V8 Camaro

- The car must have a bone stock powertrain. No aftermarket air filter, intake, exhaust, valve train, re-programmed computer, etc.

- The car must have at least 4000 miles on the odometer.

- The car must have been purchased in California and be certified for California emissions regulations.

- The car would need to be delivered to the test lab in Ontario, California. And picked up after the testing.

- The car would need to be left at the test facility for about two weeks. Most of that time is waiting for administrative stuff to occur.

- The owner would need to agree to not modify the car for about 3 months after the test. And make it available again for re-testing on the off chance the regulatory body exercises their right to do a confirmatory test at their own lab. As I understand it, that is rare.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you have a car you would like to volunteer. Thanks.

EDIT: Per moderator, company names are OK. This is about a FAST LSXR intake manifold.

Unless they have seceded recently, California is still part of the good old US of A. ;)

It is definitely smart to question things you see on the internet. But this is real. If I were looking to run off with a car, I'd be asking for a ZR1.

im sorry but last i checked canada wasnt part of the US since you say it will be getting shipped there.

with only 1 post on the forum (now 2). i call foul.... you dont have a trader rating here or any current business on this board. nor member participation. why should anyone here trust you and send you their brand new car? you dont tell us about your company and whom you represent. not even a name

I agree 100%. I'm thinking it's gonna have to be someone semi local to commit to this. I really don't meet any of his requirements, so it's kinda a moot point.

You might have better luck posting this in the regional forums.....

Thanks. Definitely looking for a car in that area. I was torn between going where the Camaros are and where the Californians are. Decided to take a shot at the cars.

Would it be bad forum etiquette to post a link in the regional forum to this thread?

Man, get some sleep! This stuff can wait. You are way more dedicated to forum posting than I'll ever be. ;)

Anyway, fair enough. I'll put you down as a "no".

I created this account the other day expressly for this purpose. Wanted to keep work and personal separate. Although now that I mention it, I don't recall if I have my own account here. I usually frequent a different, car specific forum.

This is just step one - looking for an interested Camaro owner. I don't expect step two to be cars showing up at the test facility. Plenty of time to work out the details before anyone hands over their car.

Go for it....I don't see anything wrong with it.

Yes, a lot do. Heck, Vortech ran an ad in the back of Hot Rod, or one of those mags for a 2010 Camaro to build a prototype kit. I know the guy who lent his vehicle. He lives about an hour north of me here in Indiana. He shipped his brand new car to them.

Yes, I think borrowing is pretty common. I loaned one of my former cars for a deal like this once.

This particular case is nothing compared to developing a prototype part. This is already a finished product. Just need to sniff some emissions with it installed.

A moderator explained to me that a company name is OK. Just no contact info. If you haven't already guessed, the intake that will be tested (and don't forget given away!) is the FAST LSXR.

Sorry about that. I didn't personally see anything wrong with it, but it is what it is.

I wish my car was still stock and I was local. I'd let ya have my car for testing.
