Angry How The Hell Do You Remove The 3rd Brake Light?!

How in the world do you remove the LED 3rd brake light on an SS spoiler. It is a factory LS1 SS spoiler and factory SLP LED 3rd brake light. I took the 3 screws out, but it looks like there is a wire glued to the back of the light...

Anyone remove theirs before? I was going to take it off to black it out...

When I replaced my LED brake light I spliced it in b/c the harness was built into the light. That's the route you probably have to go.

if you're just tinting it using a spray like VHT, what I would suggest to avoid cutting wires would be dropping the light as far as the wire will let it hang, and just covering the rest of the car with plastic and taping off places.... it's not the right way to do it, but as long as your careful you won't have any over spray...just a suggestion even though it's not the correct way lol

I thought about masking the whole rear end off and doing that, but the light only slides out about an inch...the cable doesn't seem like it wants to pull out anymore.

Where does the cable run to? Would I have to remove the plastic on the underside of the hatch to get to the wires for the 3rd brakelight...?

You know, I may wait and do it when I take the wing off to get re-painted. It's chipping on one end so it needs re-done, just putting it off since I'm afraid it's going to need blended into the fenders once re-painted. I just thought if there was an easy way to get the brake light off I was going to experiment with the nite-shade since it has been cracked from over tightening by previous owner.

Well, figured it out. I removed the plastic piece on the bottom of the hatch, unplugged the connector and tied about an 8 ft long string onto the wire for the 3rd brake light and the wire to the car that way I could move far enough away to spray the brakelight without getting over spray on the car and so I can pull the wire back through when I put the brakelight back in.
