I have an opportunity to trade my 1998 GMC Sierra K1500 for a 396 Stroker 1994 LT1 firebird, it is auto with a 3500 RPM stall and 3.73 gears, the guy has $30k in receipts for the car and what has been done to it. the car has only 44k original miles as well its in near showroom condition. has a cage and new 315 tires out back. now the car drove fine ran fine and all and it didn't leak oil or anything, it was fast as hell as well, but i want to know if its fishy if he's asking 7k for it? is that normal to find a built lt1 f-body for that price with those miles? i mean the receipts show all proof and there is legit nothing i can find wrong with it, but i'm afraid it'll blow up on me after a week or something lol. what could i look for on this car since its a built engine and stuff? he said it also has a 160 thermostat and a fan switch as well, has new drilled and slotted rotors, ws6 ram air hood, corvette ZR1's. the car is so nice. should i do the trade?

he mentioned something about being out of a job as well when i left, but then again why would he want to trade me if he just didn't want something else?

Easier to sell a Truck than a heavily modded race car?

The guy trading recognizes he is dealing with old technology, and its value is declining by the day. My dad is in the same boat. We have a black '94 Z28 with a vortech supercharged 355 LT4 (85K on the car, less than 8K on the engine/supercharger), and he is getting zero interest in it. Car is a blast to drive, but not great on gas, and he doesn't have time for it anymore. I'd take it, but my car is better on gas (stock LS1 M6) and is my only running vehicle at the moment.

But yeah, the point is the car is old technology. It may be in great shape mechanically and run like a top, but it is an LT1 (no offense to LT1 owners).

alright well another question i have, is that there's a nitrous bottle in back but he said he's never used it on the car, now i dont remember seeing that it was hooked up or anything but is there any way to tell if he had in fact used the nitrous? if and when i buy this car, i'll probably drive it most of the summer, and buy a beater come when it starts to get cold out

also is 11k miles a lot of miles on a stroker engine, because that's how many miles are on the engine.

I don't think 11K is high for a stroker, but it depends on how it was driven for that 11K. Factory stock motors can fail after 11K with enough abuse.

If it runs strong and you hear no knock, I think it is holding up okay.
