Default is the ls9 timing cover different than ls2 or truck engine?

I bought an ls9 cover and Cam sensor for my ls9 Cam swap into my 4.8 and comparing the two covers, the ls9 cover sticks out further. Will this be a problem on my engine or will it work?

i don't see how it could work. You crank pulley isn't going to be able to go on all the way.

If you want to use the LS9 cam in a gen III style block (Pre '07ish trucks) you will need the LS2/LS3 front cover w/cam sensor, an early 1x LS2 upper timing gear and a camshaft sensor wiring extension.

The LS7 and LS9 timing covers stick out further since they have a longer crankshaft and lower timing gear for the Corvette's dry sump 2-stage oil pump.

Thank you. The cover I bought came with the Cam sensor and everything else i need and I had already bought a 4x ls2 sprocket. So now I guess I just need to find me an early ls2 timing cover. The sensor is the tan one... it will work with the 4x sprocket right?
