They are lying to you. Keep your stock MAF and put the $300 to good use elsewhere.

it is said a new MAF is good for -20hp,
except on 98's cause they were tuned pig rich by the factory.
well let me tell you.
i replaced the MAF, lid and bellows all at once,
and there is HARDLY a difference AT ALL
part throttle seems *a little* better,
full throttle seems worse.
even the shifts are not as strong.
(can anyone tell me why the shifts?)
i went back to the old setup,
but now its bad too.

screwing with your MAF just brings bad news.
if you plan on running high hp NA
(FI doesnt *need* as much volume per hp),
wait till youre gonna tune,
then throw it in the mix right before.
even after tuning,
i havent heard of great results.

I was considering a new MAF, but after reading up some more and seeing the ideas on this forum I have since then changed my mind.

the maf is used to determine load for shifting, (line pressure) that is why your shifting was different.

Maf, stocker is best, if your max it out. (11250 hz 98 or 12000 99+) then consider other options, but that is 500+ hp, more than 95% of this board

MAF = not worth the money.....

I got one way back when I first got the car. It didn't seem to "hurt" me any but it didn't "help" either. I have compared mine to a stock MAF (tune wise) and it made 0 change. I still have it because the plastic ends will run cooler than the aluminum ones.
