Default another "chirping" noise thread

hey guys, looking for some help on diagnosis, just swapped over my 240sx with a 5.3L L33 with 34k...put about 50 miles tops on it now, and all of sudden this chirping noise has shown up. definately not the belt, sounds like it's coming from the driver side head. I've read through a few of the threads here to see if it's a "typical" problem but unsure how serious a problem I have and if I need to claim Warranty from the people I bought it from.

any ideas what it can be? here's hoping it's nothing serious....totally has ruined my day time to open a cold one

I would pull that driver side valve cover and inspect the rockers and pushrods. Have you tried taking off the belt to make 100% sure its not an accessory?

Sounds like a rocker arm, maybe loosing its needle bearings. Pull the valve cover and take a look.

alright you guys were right it's in the belt, funny how noises can throw their voice I've tried a different alternator, and a new idler pully to no avail. The minute I hit the belt with a shot of silcone it instantly hushes it....tensioner not tight enough? belt out of alignment somehow (no idea how you even "adjust" belt alignment or if you can? just not sure what to try next before I start just throwing money at it in trial and error.

When in doubt try a new belt. The belt I bought from napa was their own brand and made horrible noises like that. I switched to a Goodyear gatorback and it went away.

when my water pump started going out it was chirping. sounded similar to that but it did it at idle also. check to see if you have any excessive play in the water pump pulley.

Did you find your chirping source?
