Default NEW Katech High Capacity Scavenge/High Capacity Pressure dry sump oil pump

We have expanded our LS dry sump oil pump line to include a new pump with a larger pressure section. We found the need for more oil flow on the pressure side for some track-prepared engines, so we went to work on the LS9 pump as a base for the new product.

We were originally told by GM that the LS9 pump was superseding the LS7 pump and eventually when we ordered the LS7 pump we would start getting the LS9 pump. Some time went by and this was still not happening. Further discussions with GM brought us to find the specific LS9 oil pump and we were finally able to order base LS9 pumps to begin our preparation process.

The new pump is also sold on a core exchange basis. You may purchase the pump and return a good pump (upon inspection) for a $269 core refund. However, we may only accept the core pump for the product you purchased. In other words, we can't accept an LS7 core for an LS9 pump purchase.

Pumps have been anodized different colors for easier distinction and have also been laser-etched showing their features.
KAT-A5069-LS7 HCS aka "blue pump"
KAT-A5069-LS9 HCS/HCP aka "red pump"

More information can be found below and on our website.

What sort of pressure numbers are you needing to see out of engines that are track oriented? Was the normal blue LS7 pump providing inadequate numbers for what you were looking for? Where do you draw the line at number wise?

We look for min. 10psi/1000rpm. Some track engines with looser bearing clearances and higher oil flow were beyond the capabilities of the pressure section in the blue pump, so we came up with the red one.

It was my understanding the stock ls9 had greater scavenging capacity than the stock LS7. You list both the ls7 and ls9 as having 30% greater. Of the two modified pumps does the LS9 outperform the LS7 in scavenging?
Thanks!

The LS9 and LS7 pump have identical scavenge sections from the factory. We modify them both in the same way to add 30%.
