Lt1 lost oil pressure, turns over but won't start. Please help..
Was driving my car to work, 94 z28 6spd basic bolt ons 150k miles, started sputtering and almost completely lost power. Would rev to 2 or 3 grand w clutch in, then oil pressure dropped to 0 and car died. Started once then wouldn't turn over. Has oil leak behind oil pan and not sure if opti has been replaced. New plugs last week. Idk if it's oil pump, bad oil sending unit, oil may have been low but couldn't have been too low as I put some in every couple days. Any help is appreciated I really need to get this thing back on the road as it is my dd.

1. Did you check for spark at any of the plugs?
2. If no spark, check wire from coil to opti.
3. If no spark, check grounds, fuses, etc.
4. Check fuel pressure?
5. I know this sounds stupid, but did the car run out of gas?
6. I really do not think having low oil would not cause the engine to fire, if it ran out of oil, you would notice it. There is also a low oil level light in the dash that correlates to the probe in the oil pan.
7. If there isn't any oil pressure, verify with mechanical gauge.
8. Do an oil change, check for metallic flakes...
9. On LT1 cars, the oil pickup comes loose on the oil pump (swinging up and down) causing the pickup to fall off. Low oil + no pickup = no oil pressure.
It happened on my car, when I would stop suddenly, I would lose oil pressure. We took off the oil pan and the pickup fell into the pan. You can buy a new pump and pickup for pretty cheap. Getting the oil pan out is a bitch.
Finally, are there any error codes? If you do not have a scanner, on my 93 I can short (take a paper clip and stick it into two pins on the connector under the dash) and it will flash the codes.
Look at shbox.com for help. He has put together a comprehensive guide.
Good luck!

Thanks for the input guys I forgot to include that when on hard throttle before it stopped running I could smell fuel from inside the car. I checked the plugs and it has spark. Oil pressure is still 0 but has way too much reading from the dipstick...so maybe formula is right about the fuel pump?

I've narrowed it down to the fuel pump. Now I'm gonna do a trap door and hopefully all is well after I replace it. I figured I lost oil pressure due to losing fuel pressure.
