Shouldnt matter what gear you are in if you're racing a honda!

With stock trans tuning the following will be true:

- With 2.73 gears (GU2), WOT downshift to 1st gear at up to ~37mph as seen on speedo

- With 3.23 gears (GU5), WOT downshift to 1st gear at up to ~29mph as seen on speedo

The speeds may vary a bit from car to car since the speedo will not always be 100% accurate, and I can't recall the exact figures that are tuned into the PCM at the moment, but that is a very close estimation. However, I see that you have custom tuning, so these settings could have been changed.

Down shift your self man! Dont rely on a computer, thats why I drive 6 speeds. I would just get a little practice in, try some stready rolls and down shift and punch the gas... what you you could do is cruise in 1st, watch your tach and speed to get an idea of how fast you should be going to do it. Same with second gear.

x2. These would really help out, esp if you are going to be building the car later.

you sir, need a stall. 3200-3600 is good for street, I highly recommend it, will help dig and roll races.

I think he needs to learn how to drive first ( no offense)... learning how and when to down shift when roll racing is important, every car needs a stall

Just need to find your sweet spots. My car with 2.73s loves anything between 35 and 40. But even then you have to wait for the car to downshift, against any serious car that downtime is a big factor. If you can, in a roll race, manually put the car first so you dont have to wait for that down shift. DO NOT manually down shift your stock A4 though, only do that if you at a stop or going like 10mph, and right when you punch it put it right back into D.

Why not manually down shift a stock A4! I been down shifting those things for years, my old camaro 140k with the stock trans. Down shifted and beat the **** out of that thing every day, so does my brother with his 2000 T/A 165k on the stock trans!
