HP Tuner or EFI Live?

HP Tuner or EFI Live?
I currently have HP Tuners. I was looking to put a 2000+ computer into my '98, which I won't be able to do with HP Tuners (and keep my same VIN number, I'd have to use a 2002 VIN number with the 2002 OS, then I'll have emissions problems when they plug my car in).
I'm on the fence about selling my HP Tuners software and switching over to EFI Live. Anyone use both and prefer one over the other? If so, why?

I bought both. The flexibility to change VINs is nice with EFI Live and perform segment swaps or load whatever OS you like too. The standalone capabilities absolutely exceed the HPT MPVI Pro. But for you though as you already have HPT and only want the VIN changed it's a bit to spend for a one off. But if you could see use in the standalone stuff, or the other advantages. Then yeah go for it. Alternatively just get anyone with EFI Live to change the VIN and load the OS you need and continue using your HPT. EFI Live doesnt give a toss about VIN numbers like HPT does. But then I'm not sure how HPT handles a 98 VIN with an 02 OS where EFI is fine with it. So yeah you may be forced to go with EFI LIVE if you want to continue tuning. Sure someone that uses HPT more than me would know.

You have to be careful when doing segment swaps or changing VINS with EFI you can lock out HPT in certain instances. I am 99% sure if you put your 98 VIN in a 2002 PCM you wont be able to get into with HPT. I run into this mostly doing engine swaps if you update the PCM to a newer year or OS with EFI I cant get into with HPT.
