I just installed a pro50 on my '02 SS M6 and i was wondering do i need to adjust the bumpstops or back them all the way out??? Three people said adjust them like 100mm back from the gear and one person said T-56's don't need to use the pro50 bumpstop becuase by using it I am basically going to create problems. Thanks in advance.

i use them, what i did was that i pu the shifter in 3rd gear, then adjusted the screw so it was close to the handle, but not touching. then the same thing in 4th gear. cheap insurance imo

I was told by a guy who rebuilds these t56's for chevy, that having a pro 5.0 is the best thing for the trans...he said if you slam the stock shifter (w/out stops) you can break the little tabs on the ALUMINUM shift forks and you don't want to do that. It says in the instructions how to back the stops off....I belive it is a 1.5 turn????Its been some time since my install.........................

I rebuild these trannies too
Yoiu dont' need those on the shifter, there are stops built into this tranny.
If you feel Like you Just have to put them on there cause they came with the shifter,
Make sure they don't touch the shifter even when you push pretty hard against the shifter.
I have a ripper, The stops on my ripper are in a drawer full of spare bolts.

i just rebuilt my transmission and i had broke the tabs on the 3-4 shift fork probably from the stock shifter. I have now switched to the pro 5.0. I adjusted the stops by putting it into 3 gear and setting the top one that way i did the bottom stop the same way in fourth. The pro 5.0 rocks.

The stops would not have helped you in that case sick silver ss
You say you rebuilt it? Remember on the top of the tranny , the plate you remove with 4 bolts. Then there was the Guide plate and you had to punch out the pin on the lever in there. the one with the detent ball in it.
Was that Broke?
If not, then the stops on the shifter would not have helped.
this is the only part you are protecting with the stops.
And that is what the guide plates job is.
But I'm not going to argue with yall anymore on this , If yall want to put them in go ahead .
