Well, I got hit today by a woman trying to make a left hand turn across my lane of traffic because "she thought I was slowing down". She pulled into the intersection and as I hit the brakes and swerved to the right to try to avoid her car, hit my car just clipping the rearmost edge of my driver door and the quarter panel/wheel well area. This spun me counter-clockwise into a telephone pole on the right rear quarter panel/wheel well. 3/4 rims are broken and pretty much everything from the doors back (including the hatch) are going to need to be replaced. Good thing is she has insurance, and the cop wrote up a report. Should be in contact with the claims adjuster tomorrow.
Hadn't even rolled over 46k miles on it yet :(. I've had that car for the last 8 years and I'm still pretty bummed about it. I've got pics, but don't really feel like uploading them, maybe tomorrow if people really wanna see the damage. It was a 2001 WS6 Black/Black M6. I bought the car with just under 1k miles on it. Sad panda.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that man, I know there are probably no words to explain what you feel right now.....I don't know what I would do if that happened to my car.

That sucks to hear, but the most important thing here is, everyone is okay.

Here's crappy cell phone pics of the damage. Talked to the claims adjuster today and she said that if they assume liability, it sounds like the car will be a total loss. It's what I was expecting but still sucks to hear.

Shoot... what's the car currently insured at value-wise?

$15,000 is the insurance coverage. Really hoping I don't get boned by the other driver's insurance company. Apparently NC is a 1% contributable negligence state, meaning if they attribute just 1% of the accident's fault to me, then they don't pay any recovery.
As far as I see it, I didn't contribute at all since she was supposed to yield to oncoming traffic. But, who knows how they will look at it. I can definitely see someone being a dick and saying that since the light was yellow when I entered the intersection, at least 1% of the accident was my fault even though there's no way I could have stopped in the time/distance I had left between me and the intersection.

wow. i'm an attorney, and i actually had to research that there were still states that followed contributory negligence. from a quick search, it appears as if NC is still one of those states. i would move with a quickness. :barf:
still, sorry about your loss. important thing is that you aren't hurt!

Yea, we'll see what happens. The insurance adjuster for the other driver's company called today to see how we wanted to get it fixed, but I didn't talk to her at the time so I'm assuming that means they're assuming liability.
Unfortunately I'm still doubtful that they'll get it fixed without totaling it. Anyone have any experience with fixing this kind of damage? I'm thinking if they do total it and I can get it for $2-3,000 that I can part it out and make a profit on it, but we'll see what they say.

fix it

It's done, with the amount of damage on the quarters, there is likely underlying structural damage, plus you need both quarters removed and replaced, 3/4 wheels, it MAY have also bent the axles or damaged the bearings and suspension...just a lot of damage in those two pictures.
Ours was totaled for damage just to ONE quarter panel. After paint, parts and labor, those cost a good chunk, especially since I believe you can only get those OEM.

Well, adjuster came out and looked at it today and said that they're going to fix it. He put a value of ~$7500 on the repairs, and said that because the car was maintained well and low miles that the value was high enough to not total the car, which is nice.
