Default Washer for Knock Sensor?

Has anyone seen this done, and what is the reason for it?
The way it was explained to me was a washer with an i.d. bigger than the base around the stud, goes in between the block and knock sensor.
Anyone have experience with this?
I'm assuming it helps to desensitize them.

Never heard of that, but ever since I started putting teflon tape around the threads of the knock sensors, my false knock has gone away. I use to have the dreaded 98 F-body 3* of knock problem, but not anymore.
