I've plastered this all over my local forums. I figured I'd share it here too since it's such a sexy looking hunk of metal:

Purchased from Roush Yates, a highly respected NASCAR parts house that's mostly known for engine building.

Nodular iron 3.25" case
Iron Daytona pinion support
Fully polished 3.80 Visteon ring and pinion
Detroit locker (31 spline)
ARP 12 point cap bolts
ARP 12 point safety wired ring bolts
ARP 12 point pinion nut
Timken bearings
Billet steel 1350 yoke
Provisions for a NASCAR rear end oil pump (was previously installed prior to purchase, but plugged now with a removable AN cap)

EDIT: Forgot to add this!

What kind of case is that? I thought the 3.25" bearings were for 35 spline axles

It's a nodular iron "H" case that was probably made by Ford Racing. I haven't cross referenced the numbers yet.

NASCAR lockers use 3.25" bearings that are normally used for 35 and 40 spline setups. However, this particular locker has 31 spline side gears.

If I had to venture a guess, the 31 spline axles are "good enough" for NASCAR power levels, but are used primarily for weight savings versus larger options. The larger bearings also mean lower speeds for the ball bearings, which means lower temps and higher durability.

For anyone that asks, the car is a drag strip and weekend warrior. I wanted something stout and I'm willing to sacrifice some street-ability for this. I'll probably end up with a Wavetrac in the future so I can do some road racing, but I can't stomach that kind of price right now.

Sounds like a good deal. Are you running an auto or manual?

I got a Moser nodular housing for 35 spline axles with 4.11s and a spool used for about the same price, so you got a steal with a locker.

Those caps look like a strange case, what gear ratio? Could be Mark Williams

Never mind 3.80
