i bought this car around a month ago and have some questions

i posted the link just to know if any of you guys recognize it or have any information about it at all...would like to know the history of it...

i want to know if it is a real ws6 or not... after searching and stuff i found out that the only way to know is by the code on the sticker on the door , went out to have a look and the sticker wasnt there , any other way to tell?

the RPO code sticker is completely gone?

If you take the VIN to any GM dealer they should be able to print out the RPO codes for you

Hmmm.... not sure why the link didn't work right for you. It should have taken you right to a prompt that would ask for your VIN.

Anyway, I tried it and it worked just fine. I cut and pasted the build date and RPOs that were shown (format is a bit raw, but I tried to clean it up some) below. The "WS6" RPO is not shown. I would double check with a GM dealer and have them run a VIS report for your VIN, just to be sure. Compnine has always been correct in my experience, but I have heard some others mention that they've found descrepancies.

Additioanlly, the car pictured in that ebay link has 16x8" Firebird/Trans Am wheels. Those are not the wheels that would have come stock on a 2001 WS6. Also, the lower air box appears to be that of a Z28/SS/Formula/Trans Am, and not the raised lower box that is specific to the WS6 cars. These are further pieces of evidence that support this car NOT being a WS6.

These also show it looks like a Base Model v8 Trans Am.

Just for a reference, back about 5 years ago when CETA ed. 2002's were showing up as trade ins at dealership. I saw one wanted top $$$ and it had silver twist rims instead of the black rims it came with. I had a chuckle.

Sorry man. Still doesn't change the fact that it's a great car. The differences were minimal anyways. Nothing like some new wheels, airbox and exhaust to cheer you up. Just enjoy it is the best I can tell ya. Take off the badges if you don't want to feel like you're posing.

other than this one , i was looking at other t/a's ... the price diff is big between the ws6's and the non ws6 ones ... thats what im mostly upset about!

you can contact him and see what he says. he tells you in ad that he change air box as well as seats. i where he list car info it does say ws6 and in write up he says "this car is basically a low mile original Trans am". look like he may have been being a little sneaky to me(just my opinion). i would never buy a car off ebay without going to see it(again just me). ive only been in car business a few years but i see a lot of shady crap.

other than that its a beautiful car and miles are low. id be happy with it

also just my opinion but he is a trans am dealer so if it where a real ws6 he most likely would have had a door pic with ws6 sticker

ya the thing is that the place is called TRANS AM SPECIALTIES!!!! when i walked in there there some gizzlion trans am's and this was the onyl 4th gen ... it looked so beautiful that i didnt think about anything and just bought it.... where does it say the he changed the airbox?
anyone here ever heard about this place?
