Default Need help deciding on a tuning solution

So, as some of you may have seen I'm putting an LM4 into my Volvo Wagon. I've been talking to the guy on www.lt1swap.com about getting the ECU setup, and he can flash my ECU with a base tune from an '04 GTO, with all the emissions crap removed. My 5.3 has an LS6 cam, and will have a full header-back exhaust. Thats it. I know I'm going to need some kind of custom tuning. If I pay a local tuner to tune it, it's going to be a friend who's one of the best BMW tuner sin the country. Since he hasn't done any LS stuff yet though, I'd still need an actual tuning solution. I think he's put an email in to Greg Banish, to ask his opinion, but I'm curious what LS1tech has to say.

You can demo our software below in my sig, once you've installed the software find the samples folder to view several stock files from different applications we support.

Thanks,
Bill

Ya, I'm not a tuner, so that doesn't really help me at all.

It should run fine,

with the '04 GTO tune file in your 5.3. I doubt there'd be much to change.

One thing to be careful about is the IFR table as the earlier truck engines (pre-2004) had a return fuel line, so the Injector Flow Rate table was different to the cars and 2004-on trucks. If your's has this earlier set-up with a return fuel line to the tank you will need to ensure the correct IFR is transferred to the GTO tune.

Yes, I'll be using a return-type fuel system. What is IFR??

Here's an example of the two types.
