Q:what's the future in working in a GM LS performance shop?
Where do you see down the road where LS motors performance going ?
Any input anyone has about the industry would help.
Is it a smart job to have for the future ?
Thanks

I dont see the industry moving away anytime in the near future. GM is going to a smaller displacement motor soon, so the LS series will be the big boys for many years to come.
are you thinking of opening a shop or working at an existing one?

Seriously, the latest LS series motor came out a little over a year ago. it will be MANY years before they are out dated (if ever).

They will be around a while. Its a great platform and like lowerthanyou said they are used in hot rods, sand rails, corvettes, and is easily the #1 motor right now to drop in your hot rod. It also has alot of variations. If its staying at one place that you are worried about, as long as the owner will kinda go with the industry as it advances you will do fine. There is a local speed shop that refuses to sell LS stuff, the owner only wants SBC, BBC, and ford/mopar stuff...and buisiness sucks for them.

LS engines will be around for quite a while, I'm working on opening a shop out here in the Bay Area and as the technology changes, the industry will change as needed. I don't foresee the LS engine going anywhere anytime soon though, just look at the Gen I small block, those just disappeared in the early 2000's and they have been around since the 50's.

You first need to know two things.
1. What are your goals?
2. What are your other options?
If you have any other choices that have a good long term outcome, I would take that over being a LSX mechanic. I used to be one. If you want to know my side if it pm me for my number.
