I think they recommend plain old DOT 3

I use DOT 4 with no problems, but supposedly it eats the seals or something over time

You have to change it so often that it really doesn't make sense to run really expensive stuff. I run prestone DOT 3 because it was on sale when I went to advance auto

I use Prestone DOT 4 as well. I guess I hadn't ever heard/read about it eating seals?

I do know that it has a higher boiling point than DOT 3 Fluid. With the line to the Slave running right past the driverside header, the fluid gets really warm. I use the DOT 4 as added protection against it deteriorating as quickly.

I would run DOT 5 which has an even higher boiling point because its made with Silicone (won't absorb moisture). But, as the post below states, that ****'s not cheap. And with the frequency at which its changed, it would get expensive rather quickly.

yeah, I've read DOT 4 isn't good for seals somewhere but I don't know. I use the valvoline DOT 3&4 fluid, like $6 for 32 oz so it's cheap enough to flush every few months.
