you'll be ok ...as you browse the boards more you'll realize how many run around with open cutouts
get an electric one from QTP ( http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/ ) ..you can go from extremely loud to stock quiet by the flip of a switch..that way you avoid trouble with cops neighbors or just depending on your mood.. i love my cutout..one of the best mod i ever did

Isn't it that the exhaust piping take-off heat, like a heat exchanger for the heads?
So running with open headers or custouts could get your heads to reach higher temps?
Not sure if this is also for the LS1 but it has been for a old 350.
anyone?
