help IDing motor buddy is selling me LQ9?
I buddy of mine picked up a 09 said LQ9 it has 823 heads on it - I have no idea other than this is what I was told. I asked if it has VVT or DOD- he didnt know said its iron block 6.0 with 823 heads. I'm looking for a motor for my son for a turbo project. it has a bad cam with a flat lobe in it - if you can shed any light on what thios may be- and I have searched and searched and most info tells me 823 is a L92 head- did they put em on 6.0? I was wanting to install a LS6 cam and maybe some 317 heads for turbo and keep the 823 and intake for me - advice needed.... ok and is there a 90mm TB what will bolt up to ls3 intake for cable?

Its a Gen IV LY6 or variant. 6.0 iron block with the "LS3" rectangular port heads.
It came in the 3/4 Trucks, SUVs, and Vans. It does have VVT but not AFM (DoD) and about 9.6:1 static CR.

have you seen one? the VVT retards the camshaft for emmisions and the connetor for it is at the end of the cam on the cover you cant mount a LS1 water pump because of this. so you go to the standard 3 bolt timing set eliminating the cam phaser and run ls2 cover so you can use the ls1 accy.

All ls3s have a single bolt sprocket. If you need to change the cover to get stuff to fit then go ahead, but the sprocket isn't a problem... you just use whatever sprocket your cam needs.
