Default Misfire History ... Number counts then back to zero

I got a SES light this morning on the way to work. I connected Autotap and learn the code was for engine misfire detected. I loaded my configuration for misfire history and saw over 2000 on each cylinder. I cleared the DTC and watch the histories as I finished driving to work. I noticed that the numbers go as high as 10 then restarted to zero. Should I do some investigating or is this somewhat normal?

You didn't give us any info to go off of, but assuming you have the stock cam then no, misfires are not normal. If you have an aftermarket cam which is somewhat aggresive then it'd be normal to see a P0300 Random Misfire.

Seeing about 10 misfires per cylinder then clearing is a little high but not too bad. As long as it stays at that level I would not worry about it.

Maybe it needs the plugs cleaned. It has been about 20K
