Default Who makes the best SS Hood?

Just curious on which aftermarket manufacturer makes the best SS Hood. I have heard numerous companies Hoods don't fit or need a lot of body work to make them fit. I am interested in getting one but want to know who makes the best one. Thanks.

just buy a OEM SS hood youll end up paying more but in the end you wont have to worry about fitment problems and all that BS

I heard GM makes a pretty good one :p As far as aftermarket, from what I've seen ASCD makes the best quality SS hood

Your best bet is OEM (you will still have to play with it to fit correctly) adjustments to hinges. Now if you do not want to spend that kind of $$$ ASCD IMHO offers the next best SS hood on the market. I have had mine since Nov 2001 and the fit and finish are great no issues we spent about 20 minutes adjusting the hinges so everything would line up correctly. No extra time to prep all in all $350 to have the hood painted and installed.

For pics of my ASCD SS hood and spoiler head to my site www.01pewter2001z28@cz28.com

Default best ss hood...

I have to respectfully disagree with both of those options - the OEM hood is at least double the price of an aftermarket hood so that is out (unless money is no object, in which case you should be looking at a Berger or ZL1 Camaro) As far as ASCD goes, I had one of their SS hoods on my old Z28 and it cost me $400 in prep work (block/sand) in addition to the $400 to paint it. Even after all that, it had a noticeable dip in the scoop that we could do nothing with. So my recommendation would be the RKSport Competition SS hood ($595). I got it about 2 months ago, very little prep needed and fitment was great. The only thing I wish I had done differently was to open the scoop up a little more - the way it comes it looks like a mail slot...

here are some pics, more finished product on my site
