Default stock 05 c6 rear end

I have been told the 05 rear ends are pretty weak, so what kind of power can they hold up to? Its an m6 car.

I've heard they bust on bone stock power. It's a case issue I believe. The later C6s had reinforcing ribs and are lot stronger.

So I'm assuming you have an 05. LOL

Honestly, I would just go get a rear end out of an 06+ and call it a day. If you're dead set on a procharger, I'd get rear end from RPM. At least that way you won't blow up. Even with a stock 06+, you might blow up the rear with a procharger and a good launch.

The case is the weak link. The 05 was a FUBAR by GM. They used the C5 style tail housing on the trans and redesigned the mounts to the "wing" style for the C6. The major problem is the lack of webbing in the differential case. The best fix for this problem is to swap to an 06-07 T56 tail housing and run the 06+ differential. We have customers running the C6 base modle differentials deep into the 9s with great success.

Also DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR WITH THE CRACKED CASE! Sorry for the caps but if that case breaks completely it 90% of the time breaks the mainshaft which will be another few hundred dollars to repair.

Let me know if you have any questions.

there are guys using c5Z rears also. Someone on corvetteforum developed a bracket. They are stronger then the 05's and cheaper then the 06+, but for spray and or boost I would go aftermarket

Yea some guys are going C5 diff in the 05's. It is usually cheaper but the C5 diff has its weaknesses as well. The 06+ diff is a really great piece. Once the pinion support and axle shafts are upgraded they are able to withstand some serious horsepower.
