ORY MPG question :)
Hey all, have a 99 T/A with a custom built LM system... stock Y, etc. - I, more than anyone I know like "loud" - right now, I still don't consider it loud... so naturally I was thinking ORY - (I'm in a country with no smog) - my question is, however, naturally, with gas being so absurd... how much MPG gain could I get with the ORY?
(I figure it'll be some gain, since cats are so restrictive...) every one I have ever pulled and looked at, you can't even see through, so they HAVE to be big time restrictive...
anyway any thoughts?
Thanks!!!!

thanks! - ok, I was hoping say if I did get 2mpg, driving 40-50 miles per day... with gas at $4.45 which is is here... that ORY would pay for itself in a few months
unfortunately, I cant buy LT's right now, they're just so expensive these days.

I think you would be pushing it at 2, the stock cats really are not that restrictive on a stock setup with stock manifolds on the car. If anything I would think you might loose a little MPG because it will throw the stock tune off a little bit. But it will make it a little bit louder if that is what your going for

Wow, I take it none of you have ever done this... 2 mpg is correct, thats exactly what I gained (17-19 on my daily commute) when I bought a Bassani ORY a few years ago.
The stock Y-pipe and cats are very restrictive and I was told that just an ORY (with stock manifolds) is good for about 10hp- and yes, thats with the stock tune. I dont have a before/after with just the ORY, but when the stock motor was pulled it made 322/333 to the wheels (128K miles-Lid, ORY, catback).
