Default LS3 swap and E36 chassis questions

hello
After selling my E36 M3 and buying smart with 40hp I am totally crazy and I must have again E36. But, here in Croatia E36 M3 cost 14000$. So, I decide to go into swap. I will buy cheap e36 coupe running chassis and prepare it for LS3 with upgrade for 480PS.

But, in Cro I cant ask some question because nobody have any experience with this V8s. I read allot about this swap but some question is still here:

1. Most swap kits is for LS1. Do I can use this kits for LS3 (headers, mounts...)?
2. Suspension setup? Nobody write any words about these. Because I will change entire suspension I think that is better to buy some coilovers than fixed setup? V8 is slightly heavier so adjustable suspension can help.
3. Do I can mount complete front and rear subframe from m3 to non-m3 chassis?
4. What is procedure about maintenance LS engines: service intervals, what to change and when? I know about run in new engine and I can simply buy GM kit with oil and filters.
5. Engine power: maybe is on market some better custom tuning for LS3? I have budget 10000$ for engine and tranny. Ideally EFI 550HP with flat torque curves for 7000$.

for this time that is

thanks

1. Yes. Externally the dimensions are the same for the LS1 and LS3.
2. I don't know....try a search on here. I'm sure someone has some help.
3. Again, that will have to be a question for the car-specific forums I would imagine.
4. Maint. is simple, yes. Change the oil on a regular basis, just as you would on any car.
5. I think a heads/cam combo could get you near that number. The torque curve would probably be had best with a custom cam.

1. Is it recommended to use heat shield around headers and exhaust? Something like this:
http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/pr...al-barriers/21

2. Is it LS3 crate engine compatible with e36 without modify oil pan?

Use M3 suspension or coilovers as the weight difference between the LS3 and the BMW M50B30 is minimal (Less than 20kg) especially if you delete the a/c

Yes

4. What is procedure about maintenance LS engines: service intervals, what to change and when? I know about run in new engine and I can simply buy GM kit with oil and filters.
I use mobil one with an oil and filter change every 2500 miles (4000km)

5. Engine power: maybe is on market some better custom tuning for LS3? I have budget 10000$ for engine and tranny. Ideally EFI 550HP with flat torque curves for 7000$.
Not too sure about that, shipping will be a bitch to Croatia.

Good luck with that.

Why you make your own mounts? Price or...?

Go to this forum and read all the builds there. There are at least 5-10 finished cars with full documentation on the site.
