We finally got our phones back so I figured I would give everybody an update. As some of you know, I've been at Ft. Jackson since March. We have family day today so I get to see my daughter who was born May 5 for the first time. The hardest part was not being there for that but I couldn't leave. Overall BCT was pretty easy if you did what you had to and did it on time. I jump on a plane Friday afternoon for Fort Huachuca for my 15W AIT.

Congrats.

But if you think being away for birth was hard, life is really about to suck, lol.

sorry if I jacked your thread OP, but again good job man for sticking threw it and graduating. My recruiter mentioned that it is honestly a huge mental game you have to get past to survive BCT, and apparently you did. :usa:

Honestly BCT was too easy. We had a lot of people graduate who have no business in the Army. We didn't have any rain graduation day but I heard it was 106 degrees on the field. So far, it's been 15-20 degrees cooler here at Huachuca than it is in Alabama. I start classes tomorrow and have swing shift so I pt at 0930 and have class from 1600 to midnight. I'm loving the weather out here so far but I haven't ran yet to contend with the altitude. They told us to add a minute to a minute and a half to our run so that'll put me between 14:00 and 14:30 so that still won't be too bad.

I wasn't that guy. I was just about the only one that didn't buy any shirts.

Really, they actually have class rings and jackets for BCT/AIT graduates? Here I thought the military wasn't about money. I may buy a $10 shirt for a souvenir and the memory, but I'm not about to dish out that kind of cash for a silly ring & or jacket. Pretty sure I would rather EARN a priceless symbol such as a medal.

It's actually not the military itself pushing it. It's a civilian business ran by (usually) retired soldiers just making money off of privates. It works, lol.

yeah, we had some old retired dude pushing all his shit on us in basic. I couldnt believe all the shit the kids bought. maybe im just an old cheap bastard
i wont even buy the unit crap, they want like $30 for a 5dollar tshirt, and $50 for a hoodie, fuck that. I'll wear my free PT's to PT

Congrats soldier! I'm an Airman and I remember graduating basic about 2 years ago. You think Army basic is easy, USAF Basic is absolutely stupid IMO. Way to many fuck ups graduated and it was nothing more than just freaking boring for me.

They tried to push rings, shirts, etc. on us when my flight graduated to. I just bought a shirt that we had to buy to wear during the Airman's run for 10$ and another badass USAF skull eagles Affliction type deal shirt for like 7 dollars. I remember people coming out with bags full of hoodies, shirts, shorts, etc.
