Conversions & Hybrids - Project Vw Passat Rwd - Ls1 - TKO600 ++

Hello..

We are some craysy guys from norway that are building a Vw Passat Stv 2002, with a Ls1 engine and tko 600 gearbox.

The car is a station wagon and will off course hav RWD !!

We need as little help with flywheel , Clutch bellhousing choises ..

What do we need ?

The enginge come from a Transam 2002 mod..

we have the engine en gearbox a Tremec TKO600

witch bellhousin ?

Clutch ?

Flywheel ?

Other parts needed ?

We would be werry happy if somone can help us with this..

#621 BBC bell housing or Keislers housing with the extra LS bolt hole

Adjustable stud, BBC clutch fork, 1 3/4" long throwour bearing
or
Hydraulic throwout bearing

LS1 clutch/flywheel (99-02 camaro)
or
Sachs 1050 (0.4" thicker) flywheel, 11" BBC clutch

I run a TKO with Keisler's bellhousing and their hydraulic throw out bearing. I am running a GM LS7 clutch, flywheel and pilot bearing. Nice heavy flywheel, should get that wagon moving.

My Keisler bell doesn't have the extra bolt hole. Must be an older one.

Where can i get this parts ?

Clutch and flywheel you can get from a chevy dealer or GM direct. Kielser engineering sells a bell, or you can go to jegs, summit racing, pretty much anywhere for an aftermarket unit. Most ship overseas. I imagine there are dozen or more sponsers on here that will set you up with everything in one package.

The ecu is tuned a bit, it`s a guy i norway that have several of ls1 in difrent cars, he say the motor is putting out 440hp now. with a new tune.

Everything in one package for a manual z bar linkage. Just get the 26 spline disk.

Now the mounting of engine and tranny starts. Full rollcage after that.. so more pic vil come.

I was going to say. I thought passats were FWD. Looks like you cut off more metal than you left.

This car was a 1.9Tdi. at first we had a Audi S4 engine V8 4x4.. but the cost to rebuild the engine is to mutch.. ca $7000 ... pistons, cam, +++

So a Ls1 is a bether choise :)

Front and rear suspension is from a BMW E39 . 530i all aluminium :)

Coilovers ++++ .. The diff is alsow from a 530, but we thinking somthing like a M5 in the future..

Engine will get some breathing help, turbo/supercharger not desided yet..

Any meanings there ? any good kit i the states ?

I thought those subframes looked like they were from an e39

is there any chance a

Eaton M90 supercharger can be mounted on the Ls1 ?

Engine sits where it is going to.. gearbox is in..

From the gearbox to the rear dif the shaft is missing 8 cm, so we have to make a spacer.

Hmmm.. not sure.. hehehe.. kidding... Yes have just enough, 1 to feed the surgetank an 2 to feed the engine, if 1 fails it`s 1 left to do the job..

And with a Supercharger it will need more fuel.

"gMAG" Where can we get a shifter that is nice... i like oure 50cm long :D ..

We need a shifter, and we need injectors,throttle body and fuelrail..

We have already thinking of an upgrade :)

It`s more than enough room for a Viper V10 Srt10 engine :D

but we have to get to drive this beast first...

The main sponsor is Me and My friend thats builing it. And spend the big money on this car.. :P

But we have a local VW dealer with some money in this project. A local tyres and rims dealer, and some other ho has things we need .. :)

Original the passat is ~1450kg we have cut out half the car. new suspension is alu +++

with the ls1 engine from a transam thats is ? 1700kg? the engine is carring half a ton less weight :)

Aluminum Block LS Engines are under 450lbs fully assembled with accessories. That's the number I've heard many times.

450lbs ~ 205 kg.. ;-). The car itselfe cleen its ca 300kg. 4 man carry the car on the trailer ( 75kg pr man ) so 300kg car + 205kg engine 505kg. So its 500kg for suspension ++ all the extra Stuff .. I Think we can come under 1000kg.

We still missing some $ to overhaul front and rear subfram/axel, and shop a few things.

And the last 2 weekends we have spendt on racetracks with oure Supra 750Hk and Skyline 450hk track/drift cars.

Need to shop some brake lines and fuel lines.. mount some gauges and so on..

Thanks for the update. Did the customer request the roll cage or is the cage required for a specified class of racing?

As to the supercharger; it's best to check the forced induction section. Those guys have the most experience & can answer all of your questions correctly the first time.

We must have roll cage in order to get a license on the car. We use it on a track in Norway. Drag, drift and so on.

This car is bulid to use hard.. we have a tire budget on ca 80 pairs of tires...
so let the smoke come.. :)

Great to see progress on this project.

One thing to consider is the air intake system. LS engines are very sensitive to high air intake temperatures. When AITs go up above 130-140 the computer will start pulling timing very quickly and you can easily loose 15-20 HP. You current system is sucking hot air right behind the radiator.

I would consider making a air intake system that has one tube that goes to the passenger side and down, and pick up cool air from in front of the front tire, outside the engine compartment.

The car weight is ca 1200 kg . We want a blower , but the budget is blown ;-( . With a airduct it will get cold

Dyno results: 423whp @ 5200 rpm and insane 650Nm @ 3200rpm we have 460Nm at 2000rpm

We have now run a few hours on the court this summer :)

I'm super happy with how the car is running, a good balance and grip. But after we mounted supercharger and have 650nm@3500rpm on the wheels, the car spins over all the track :)

The next step is 1bar pressure, E85 konventering and a new tune on the engine.

New rims on the car for show use :
20x10.5 (265/40/20) on the rear and 20x9 (235/35/20) in the front.

Other upgrades in the winter is widebody in the rear (get the wheelarches uot a bit) and a little bit in the front, new stearing angel, space out the rims 20mm in front and 20mm rear..

We have a new designe on the car as well..

Just found this and Ho-lee-crap is this awesome. Im planning my own setup like this. Im not planning to stuff the engine as far back as you did so I can retain the interior. Not sure what im doing about the rear. E39 rear driveline? Im wanting to leave the car looking factory untill you open the hood for the shock value on the street.

We finnaly got it on the dyno :-)

715Nm and 495whp @4500rpm
