Default VATS resistor bypass help inside please

I don't know much about electronics I need to bypass my VATS (at least for now). I tested the key and I have pellet #4 - 887 ohms.

I have some 887ohm resistors and having said that now how do I do it? Do I just solder one resistor leg to one white wire and the other to the other white wire?

Just like the bottom diagram shows and what you said. One leg of resistor(s) to white, the other leg to purple going toward the VATS-not the column.
