Default aftermarket Cam question?

i have lid, longtubes, no cats, and SLP Loudmouth. I want to run a mild cam that wont require any modifications besides what mods i already have. Is a 212/218 duration with a 522/529 lift. Would this be a good one to get??? What kinda gains can i expect with just adding this cam? What mods would you recommend next that wont break the bank? Thanks

what do you use your car for?

-weekend fun and racing?
or
-daily driver?

that cam is below mild, its a baby cam. Mild to me is a 224/224 or 224/228.

any time you do a cam install, its wise to add the following

-pushrods chromoly
-springs
-oil pump high flow
-crank pulley underdrive
-double roller timing chain

is your car an A4 or M6?

A4, weekend fun and racing. im trying to keep the $ down for this mod. I would like to add a cam that would be safe without added any other mods. im not the most knowledgable under the hood. So of the other cams that are more aggressive say computer modifications required, if i bought a Diablo programmer is that what they are talking about with computer modifications?? What duration would you recommend withouth any other mods?

Thunder racing has a cheater cam that's supposed to do well with stock to mildly modified cars. With a mild cam and your current mods you can get away with a mail order tune from one of the sponsors. The programmers are a waste in my opinion.

When you open up your motor to do the cam swap you a pissing good money after bad if you dont upgrade your oil pump and timing chain. call it preventative maintanice. As far as cam options that will require minimal supporting mods your best bet is to talk to one of the vendors. I personally love Texas Speed they were awsome to me when I was trrying to decide on a cam. And it says something that they hold the record for the fastest cam only F body
