what shifter should i run? i was trying to do some research but i can't find much on shifters like the Pro 5.0.
i read some stuff about the B & M ripper shifter and seems to get good reviews but i don't find much about the actual stats on the others.
and the Hurst shifter. is that any different then factory equipt hurst shifter cars??
i see the B&M has a 30% shorter throw then stock. seems pretty good. i'm interested to know what the Pro 5.0 shifter has thats so special about their 2-3 shift design.
what are your thoughts and opinions?

From what I have read when purchasing a shifter.
B&M is gonna have the longest throw. You cant change the stick because its a one piece design.
Pro 5.0 gets great reviews from racers and I think has the shortest throw. It is however supposed to be the most notchy of the aftermarket shifter.
The Hurst Billet is what Ive got. Its a lot shorter than stock, and shorter than the B&M. Its pretty smooth to, but some people report having a hard time hitting third but I never have with it. The Hurst Competition plus is just the stock hurst.
Then theres the MGW. They have great reviews. They have great short and smooth shifts. I have read complaints that the shift stick sits further away from the driver making first gear feel like third gear.
I was gonna go with the MGW but found a great deal on the Hurst. I am completly happy with the Hurst.

on the B&M shifter is it still shorter than stock? i always like the shorter look. but is it still not a shorter throw then stock either?
I have found that you can get the Pro 5.0 shifter in standard form or with a short shifter package. haven't ran across anyone that is currently running one tho.

I'm in the same predicament. Looking for a short throw shifter, but unsure which to go with. Leaning towards the Hurst for reputation.

I've had the factory Hurst, factory hurst with a short stick, a B and M, and the MGW. Out of all of them I like the MGW. I hated my BandM shifter. I like the feel of the factory hurst with a short stick on it and I've never had a PRO 5.0 but I've not heard anything bad about them but I say MGW to.

I upgraded to the Pro 5.0 w/ Lou's Short Stick from the stock shifter and been running it for about 4yrs now. I like it but its pretty notchy, the throw is very short, I might try the MGW from all the good reviews I've read about it. Haven't had any experience with B&M or Hurst. Would be nice though to try all and compare...

Ive used a few different shifters, and i think it really depends on the driver, on which is the best for them.
IMHO heres how id rank them from personal experience: Pro 5.0/Lous Stick> Pro 5.0/Stock Stick> Stock Hurst/6" WS6Store Stick> Stock Hurst> B&M Ripper.
Like was stated, the Ripper has a solid stick, so it is a pain to go shorter.. To me, it also seemed to have the longest throw out of all of them.

Yes the Hurst Billet has the adjustable bump stops.
I love my Hurst, but then again everyone is gonna say they love their own shifter. All I can say is that its a lot shorter and tighter than the stock shifter but is not notchy. I stayed away from the pro 5.0 due to it being notchy and my car being my daily driver.

i'm pretty sure the b&m shifter has bump stops too.
well this makes things a hard decision. i really want a nice shifter with a short throw and bump stops. is that too much to ask!?!?!?!

you dont need bump stops, the t56 has internal stops, mgw all day

I have had my 5.0 for 10 years with no issues. Have driven others, IMO the 2 to 3 shift is easiest with the 5.0. It is a "notchy" shift, I like it though, it lets me know I am in gear. I am running the same stick that came with my 5.0 but I did cut about 0.75" off of it and later cut another 0.50" off of it.
