do you love your shifter?
do you hate the crappy stick that your stuck with ?
i know i completely disliked my mgw stick and the placement, so i busted out some 5/8 steel rod and 3/16 steel plate and got to town!
i adapted my aluminum Hurst stick and ball to my mgw shifter and in the process, i positioned it where i wanted it!

heres the pics

pretty simple and easy, it took me about an hour of fab'ing and test fitting and the results are amazing, i finally have my shifter where i want it !

pls dont mind the mess in my car lol

that's cool man, i like to have my shifter as closest to me/the steering wheel as possible and the mgw stick just did not cut it, plus with this you can use any type of stick you would like and it adds tons of adjustability

Is this setup heavy? I was just wondering that if it is heavy and you shift with authority that you could over "throw" and damage/wear out something in the trans? Maybe you can adjust the throw stops to ensure this does not occur? Not an issue perhaps? Just wondering, I like the idea of setting up your car for YOUR taste/requirements!

My stick is lightweight so this setup weights as much as the mgw stick, also the t56 has internal stops so overthrow is not a problem

Just took the car for a short 30min drive and its pretty amazing
By far one of the best mods I've done

are you serious? once the shift boot is on you dont see it!
i guess ppl on here that own mgw shifters dont drive there cars because the stick/position you get with it is horrible
with this my shifter is almost four inchs closer to me then with the stick that came from mgw

I had an MGW shifter for a long time. Loved the stick placement and position. I like it better then any other shifter honestly, the only reason I upgraded is because I went to a Hurst Competition Billet for the looks. I don't know why you didn't like it, most shifters have the stick positioned on the right side of the boot, I liked how it sat on the left side closer to the driver.

Honestly, I think its a good idea. Adapt, improvise, and overcome. If it works good then good on you for making it better for your needs.

That's pretty cool, and like you said its not going to be visible from once the boot is on.

yep and if anybody else wanted to do this they could literally put the stick anywhere they wanted and any height they want
they could also make there adapter a lil prettier if wanted, i just threw some scrap metal that i had laying around together with my elcheapo weld because i was unsure how well my idea was going to work

but it works awesome !!
