K&N owners chime in??
I am looking to get a K&N intake for my 06 imp ss and was wondering if $150 locally is worth it. I have a drop in K&N already will I see gains over that? Thanks

Having a K-N intake myself...Im going to have to say the only gain you really get is the cool intake noise..If that's worth about 300 or so dollars, that question is up to you...
The stock intakes really arn't all that bad, when I removed mine I noticed they are pretty much empty inside, not too much restriction..I had an 01 Monte SS that I put an intake on, and the stock intake on that was pretty restrictive.

I'm assuming when you say "10-15 above ambient" you're talking about the outside air and not the engine temps right?

Well I just bought it today and installed it. I really like it! You can feel a difference and it sounds cooler. I would definitely say any intake is better then stock intake! The little tiny tube it sucks air from, a 50 cent piece would clog it. Thanks guys for the input.
Now I can't wait to get my headers and wake her up a little more!!!!!!!!

Just installed a K&N intake on my 08' GXP as well not sure if it's normal or not but it honestly feels like the low-end torque got destroyed. It feels like 1st gear is more smooth through the power band and not as torque heavy, at the same time I think (emphasis on think) it helped through 2nd in that there isn't as much bog as with the stock intake. I honestly don't think I like how it's change the torque profile. I'm going to recheck the connections and see if something is up, the low end torque loss was a little too noticeable for me.
As for sound it really sounds good, as long as you don't get on it it's relatively quiet. Getting a tune next week hopefully it helps.

The intake itself is good , but you need to get rid of that garbage filter , i had mine on for less than 14 days and i was shaking dust out of the INSIDE of it , go get volant P/N 5150 , uses the same adapter , is slightly longer , and wont let that **** in your motor.
I can literaly SEE the vancouver boston game through the K&N filter.
