Looking for a "doable" forced induction setup. Just starting out.
I have a 93 T/a that is stock except for the heads. I was considering going the forced induction route. After reading up a little I was thinking centrifugal supercharger. I want to stay away from turbos all together. Im looking to keep the car on the street for the time being. I am starting out now with a little over a grand to work with (This budget will of course increase over time). Where do I start? Looking for some advice or opinions.

They were replaced with aluminum ones. Don't know much else besides that, they were on the car when I got it. With the $1000, I'm just looking at the beginning of the supporting mods.

there is a complete procharger d1sc kit for sale in the classifieds for $2800 last time i looked. a set of forged pistons, fuel pump and injectors, and a good dyno tune and you could easily drive it around reliably. now racing it would be a different story, but that is the bare minimum you would want

if you really plan on doing boost in the future you'll definitely need exhaust, i'd do valve springs since the stockers are so weak, dont necessarily worry about the intake if you're going FI in the future as you'll have to ditch it, maybe just get a good filter that you can re-use later. while ur doing the springs throw a set of 1.6's on. you'll need to get a built tranny if auto, you'll want a better rear end, everything adds up.

I'm a turbo guy personally but with such a low budget you will never get that S/C setup because you will need all of the supporting mods. You can do a nice Nitrous setup for cheaper and still make great power.

So what is the verdict on a ballpark figure for a midrange setup that is still reasonable for the street, yet produces a decent amount of power? Can everything be done for around the 5k range?

Not the bolt ons ($2k ish), rear end ($2k ish), supercharger system ($3k-$6k, depending on used, build yourself or whole kit etc).

if you can swing it, go stainless, and as big as you can afford, so you have room to grow. yeah it's possible you'll lose a tiny bit of bottom end but once you get a cam, heads, intake, FI like you want, you'll be glad you went big the first time
