Default Need help with a decision

Okay guys I have a 1997 Silverado, heres the craigslist ad.

http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/2394715080.html

and I got a call from a guy who wants to trade me and I wanna know yalls opinion about whether or not I should do it, Heres the ad for his car.

http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/2406154432.html

I haven't personally seen the car yet as it is about 40 minutes away so if i were to make the trip it'd have to be to make a deal not to just show up and then decide against it.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

I wouldn't because with that old of a car you dont know the history of it, unless he has owned it for a long time. But then again i might just be biased since I'd much rather have the Trans Am since I'm not a truck fan. I think you could get a better deal on a truck though.

You've got it backwards, I have the truck and I'm wanting a Trans Am. Hence why I posted in LS1Tech.

All I'm going to say is "BE VERY CAREFUL!" In far too many instances, CL is for the bottom feeders of the car selling world. You can get the worst of the worst and you better prepare yourself accordingly. Of course there are some great folks out there trying to sell decent cars, and successfully doing so, but when you pay nothing, sometimes you get what you pay for. We won't even go into the criminal element that peruses CL. As bad as ebay can be with all the dealers selling 'always garaged, never smoked in' perfect cars they are still all registered and can be held accountable. With CL, you have nothing.

I say go and check it out. The worst thing that's gonna happen is that you have to drive the 40 minutes back home in your truck.

if the TA is in decent shape, I'd say it sounds like a good deal - you're getting a newer (year model) vehicle with almost the same mileage as your truck. Granted, its going to have the same problems as any high-mileage vehicle but if it looks to have been taken care of and the carfax is clean, I'd go for it
