Default Scat I beams

Are Scat I beams a good choice for a 355 with forged pistons and a stock crank?

Here's a link to a budget build, he uses Scat I beams but with 7/16 bolts.

Is there any real differences between a 3/8 bolt and a 7/16 bolt?

i used the same rods only 6 inch. stock crank scat rods and mahle pistons. and ai heads and cam. the work perfect for a budget build and have never gave me a problem. only difference between a 3/8s bolt and 7/16s is the size and the bolts are stronger on the 7/16s

Besides the 1/16" dia ? The rod with the 7/16 bolt is a stronger rod rated at higher hp. You"ll need to know what piston you are using also when selecting a rod. I'd follow the Ellwein link myself.

Get the ones in the Ellewin Engines ad I believe they are the Scat Pro Comp's which are 4340 forged with the 7/16 capscrews.
