Default Thunder Racing's TRuTorq L5 LS3 Cam Results

We are currently finishing the tune on a 2010 Camaro SS and it looks like we are knocking on the 500 RWHP door with a cam only setup. The mods are as follows:

Thunder Racing TRuTorq Level 5 cam 227/239 .614"/.621" 115LSA
Comp 26925 Spring Kit shimmed to TR specs
Dynatech 1 7/8" LT with Off-road pipes
QTP Dual Cutouts
Stock LS3 Longblock
Stock LS3 Intake Manifold
TR 6060 trans w/stock drivetrain and wheels

Best pull so far 498 RWHP SAE Corrected.

Dyno graph to follow...

The cam drives well even with the stock gears. I have a video and dyno graph which I will post shortly. This is the 5th time we've installed this particular cam in an LS3 build. The lowest performing car made 486. All testing was done with 93 octane pump gas on stock LS3's. We are going to install this cam in our shop test car soon which has a ported intake and a little bowl and chamber work. I'll post results as I get them...

Thanks,
Shane

I had high expectations from this cam long time ago and I searched A LOT about it but I couldn't find any results other than the dyno sheet on Thunder's website

I'm so glad to see those outstanding results for this great cam.

How do you think this cam will do on an LS7?

I actually have this cam in a couple of 4" stroke rectangle port motors overseas. It makes great low end and midrange torque and still carries out to 7K.

I also have a 239/251 115 option specifically for LS7's with those with more aggressive tastes...

Thanks,
Shane

Great job shane. Congrates my brotha.. I am looking forward to getting my car back together soon. When it's finished you still gonna come to the track with me to setup the suspension? I am gonna need to get the Wolf rear any sway bar put in first though.. I'll call you when I get everything back in the car man.. Again great results on the car..

Sweet graph there, do you think the cam will do just as well in a G8 GXP?
Or how about a base GT with the L76?

It should make comparable numbers in any LS3. We've seen a low of 485 and a best of 498 with an average of 494 on 5 different LS3 cars. It also brought a TVS 2300 LS3 from 527 to 604. This cam will work equally well on an L76 but will be softer down low of course. The smaller bore and lower displacement don't allow the LS3/L92 head to shine quite so brightly. What's amazing about this cam is the drivability you retain. I averaged 21.9 MPG (the car would only do 23 MPG stock...) in my CTS-V on an 1100 mile trip to Hartland, MI. I am not easy on the car by ANY means. My wife drives the car everyday.

Thanks,
Shane

Thanks Shane, I really like the results from this cam, will be nice to hear a sound clip on a 115 in your spare time. I will keep this in mind when the time comes to mod the G8, great job.
