Just picked up an 99z today shes an a4, I plan on hitting the track one i get a better tire set up and installing the trans cooler but i was curious what you gurus think she can do.

Mods are:
Ms3 Cam
Tci 3000 stall
hooker long tubes, catless y, slp.
ram air
Minor suspension work
4.10s
And a solid tune
Almost forgot ls1 intake and stock tb, plan on a ls6 intake and ppd tb asap

Most a4 guys i see breaking 11's normally have a 3600-4000 stall, so i was curious with a decent tire and assuming i hook does anyone foresee an 11sec quarter in my future?

Thanks in advance!

:wrongforuWrong section but...

I would say ur good for low 12's with a decent tire. That being said, You will probably break your 10 bolt with a Mickey Thompson considering the size gear you have. If you're gonna stick with that gear you should use a tire that won't hook quite as strong as a M/T like a Nitto.

Sorry about that! And fwiw it put down 370rwhp with the stall unlocked.

I say low 12's as well.. with that intake set up and small stall i think 11's might just be a little off.

I have run m/t and nitto drag radials with my 87,000 mile original 10 bolt with no problem. Autos are a little easier on the rear. I would say with a sticky tire and you hook up 11's is possible.

Thanks guys sorry about the wrong section i was thinking a nice hook on a sticky tire and a better flowing intake mani and Tb and i should be in that 11 mark im hoping for.

Put a Set of Nitto 555R's on there and u will be fine !!! I ran 11.80@114 w/ a 1.61 60ft w/ just bolt-ons and a 3600 stall on 555R's !!!!!

High 11s at 113MPH in this heat should be easy for you

Yall guys only think low 12s? My bolton lt1 with 270 rwhp went 12.3 with 3400+ raceweight. With 370 whel thru auto im gona say mid 11s if it hooks. Also to the op dont be afraid of the 10 bolt. Autos are not as hard on the rears. Put some mt drs on that best and let her eat.

Don't buy nittos... Just tried out their NT-05R which is supposed to be a better DR than the 555r and best 60' was only a 1.69... I could do that with my street tires.

Only way to find out is to take the thing to the track. Let us know how ya do

Nittos are fine drag radials.

I agree-and they last long on the street too

Lose that POS TCI stall before if ruins your trans. TCI converters are literally GM 4cyl converters with adapter rings welded on them. Not to mention 3,000 stall (if its even that, I know they just "guess" by hoping the crappy Sunfire converter will overstall to a certain point with increased power, aka anything more than a Sunfire) is too low for your combo.

MS3 with 4.10s is begging for at least a 3,600. I would go 3,800-4,000 in your combo and of course get a good cooler.

For my combo, Circle D Specialties............moves me. Rule of thumb for converter shopping is that if it doesnt cost at least $675 its not worth your time.

The tci 3000 was on the car when i got it im looking at getting a yank 4000, and just picked up a hefty trans cooler.

It depends on how hard you get the car to leave, weight of the car and air, 370whp unlocked is good for mid-low 11s good air. I went the time in the sig with the same cam, made 380whp unlocked and car weighed with me 3525lbs. that was with a 275/40/17 mickey drag radial btw

Did I say something wrong???

First off, It's known that the higher ratio gear you go the weaker it is... In other words as far as strength is concerned, 3.42>3.73>4.10. Have had my rear end and a few friend's rear ends break with a 4.10 because the M/T grip so well and put that much strain on the rear end.

Second, I did pull a 1.70 60' on my street tires last year at Byron Dragway... it's not a 1.69, but it's 1/100th of a second difference...

**Fixed my first post... a nitto won't break a 10 bolt, M/T probably will considering the M/T hooks like a slick and the Nitto (at least from personal experience) doesn't have enough grip to do any harm.

I went the time in my sig with 3.42 gears and 4000 stall, I have tons of 1.4 60fts on that setup.

Auto's don't break the rear like a manual. And your street tires should not hook like a nitto. You must have some sticky ass 345 street tires. My street tires spun 1st and 2nd and my nitto's don't spin way to much they are a softer sticky tire that last a good amount. Low 1.7's can be done with the nitto.

That makes sense. The one I broke was a six speed. One friend was also six speed but another was an auto with 4.10. Must not have been installed properly...

Autos CAN generally speaking get away with more than M6 but dont take that to the bank? Ask me how I know, I am on 10bolt #2. One bad track prep and hopped and thats all she wrote. Get rid of that TCI ASAP as they are garbage and shouldnt even be made for the LSX cars, Ive seen them take out more than a few trannys. Get a set of Nittos drags and youll be fine starting out. At 15psi and a good burnout I did consistant 1.60 60ft with my old Vig converter setup. Good luck and as you said atleast get and LS6 and P&P TB to help that cam breathe.

I see the OP getting into the 11s. I ran an 11.6 @ 121mph with a cam smaller than a MS3, FAST 90, headers, and 3.42s. Only thing was I had a 3600 stall.
