Where Is The Coil Pack and How Do I Replace It??

Default Where Is The Coil Pack and How Do I Replace It??

Going to replace coil pack on my car 1997 Red Formula WS6. Where is it?? How do I replace it?? I don't know much so please dumb it down for me.

LT1s don't have a coil pack or coil packs they have an ignition coil.

It's on the driver's side of the car, bolted to the front of the engine, underneath all the ducting that lets air into the engine. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then take the ducting off (take the hose clamps off and then separate near the mass air flow sensor), then unplug the wires from the coil (ICM wire, coil wire, and coil spark plug wire), then remove the bolts that hold the coil to the head.

Make sure to put the grounds back on when you put the new coil on.

Here is a picture of the coil. Yours is probably black and has one less connection though:

Why are you replacing it?

There is no upgrade, and if you don't know where it is how could you test it to know it failed and needs replacing?

Just so you don't get confused... The pictures shows what it would look like with an MSD ignition box hooked up. The grey/black connectors would normally connect directly to the coil. With an MSD 6/6a only one plug is connected to the coil.

just got done got the coil for 25$ took 30 mins total from beginning of taking things off to starting engine up again. now iam goin to the inn of the dove with my fiancee in the bird laterrrrr!!!
