I plan on running in the lsx rumble but never had the car on the 1/4 mile. Ran it in the 1/8th for the first time a couple weeks ago. I am unsure about all the safety equipment I need to run 1/4. It has no cage in it so what if it runs faster than the 11.99?

We will be there as well. However we will either have to go down in blower size to run Real street or put radials on it to run drag radial? Probably go with radials.

You can run all the way down to 11.50 with no roll bar or harness needed (an approved helmet is required by most tracks though).
You don't need a fire jacket above 11.50 either unless you're running a blower, turbo or nitrous, if so then you'd need the jacket even for 12s or 13s.
Your 7.38 corresponds roughly with the 11.40-11.50 range in the 1/4 mile so you could easily just add some weight/run a full tank of gas and stay just over roll bar territory and you should definitely attend/enter this awesome event. :drive:

An easy way to slow the car down is alter your shift point also... 200-300 rpm lower shift point can make a bit difference depending on the whole package.

Man I am trying to decide what class to run in while there.

I normally run a 305/315 radial or a 275/60 slick.

And if anyone is coming down I-40 and through Greensboro, NC on the way there let me know, and that has room on a trailer I live one mile exactly off 40 and have a nice big neighborhood with plenty of room for whatever. I will pay for fuel and will even pay for space if needed on trailer. I will have my own accomodations so no bumming here lol:D

If not looks like a long drive coming for me!!!

Yes sir Cheeks. If you'll take a look at the website page you'll see the competition drag pack and the sportsman.

Clicking on the sportsman drag pack will take you to a registration page where you can select any one of the classes that you would like to participate in.

Here's a link to the page I'm referring to so you don't have to skip through multiple pages from this point Cheeks.

I can't link you to the specific page due to the way the site is structured but I can get you close!

The only tracks we have around here are garbage and it would be nice to get some passes. Which class would best best to get several passes and not a one and done race situation.

If nothing else see you guys there from the stands while my car takes in the sun at the show and shine.

Man I'm sure you can get plenty of support and help at the race Brian. Although I understand wanting to debut it at it's best, it would be cool just to see you out there.

Either way good luck bud!

I've had a major outlay of money this year due to all the complications...3-4 nights hotel + $500 fuel + expenses is just not in the cards for something no where near 100%

PSJ, emailed you back ;)

Biggest issue is that I really haven't made any real clean 1/8 mile passes, let alone 1/4 mile passes yet. Too far to travel for something that I'm not remotely certain about :bang:

How strict is beech bend on their track rules? The only thing I am missing is window nets to go above 135 and and a 8.50 legal cage but I really dont see me running 137-139 with my 6 point being enough to throw me out is it? I will be wearing pants, do I need anything else? Jacket? Gloves? I've got my helmet, but it's open faced. How fast do you have to be to need a closed face?

Hey I will probably end up trapping 137-139 at this event. Am I going to have to slow down before I cross the traps since I only have a 6pt roll bar? Is it going to be that big a deal? I also don't have 5 point harnesses just stock restraints. Everything else I have to be nhra/ihra legal. I usually only run 1/8 mile but if I could guess my car will run 10.2-10.5 @135-139.

I am wondering if people will jump ship and not go due to the weather forecast. This is there rain season from what I hear. I see that there is a 30% chance of thunderstorms for Thursday through Sunday. That sucks to drive almost 900 miles to sit in the rain.

Rain does suck. Barometer and water grains will be all over the place, makes it very tough to dial a car in on half second increments.

It will most likely rain part of the time.

That's racing at a 3 day event.

I would think that this:
I also don't have 5 point harnesses just stock restraints.
could probably be a bigger deal than this:
Hey I will probably end up trapping 137-139 at this event. Am I going to have to slow down before I cross the traps since I only have a 6pt roll bar? Is it going to be that big a deal?
as belts might be the first thing they will look at in tech once they see a roll bar.

But either one could be an issue so you should probably get a harness belt and (legally) add some weight to the car (maybe run bigger front wheels with lower pressure?) to get it closer to 134mph.

edcmat-l1
09-04-2011, 06:32 PM
Yeah, no harness will probably be an issue. Wouldn't wanna make the trip and get bounced.

This look okay? They have the same ones in stock at my local speed shop. Where do the lap belts mount to? The same place the stock seat belt latches to and the anchor point for the lap belt? Where does the crotch strap mount to?

FBody... you usually have to create a mounting point for the crotch strap. You can use the factory bolts for the lap belt, but the bolts often are too large of a diameter to fit through the holes for the belt. There is no easy answer. If you get the crotch strap that has an eye in the end, you could add a steel plate to the floor and weld a stud to that for mounting. This kind of stuff is not plug and play, so you will have to make modifications.

I wanted to use a piece of 90* angle iron for the crotch stap with a bolt going through the eyelet of the angle iron and bolt the harness to that angle iron.

Will a 3/8's grade 8 bolt go through the stock hole for the lap belt?

A 30% of rain just means that there is a 70% it will not rain.

I couldn't find the right style harness locally. I don't think I am going to make it guys. I really want to go, but I can't stand the thought of watching everyone else race and having to stand there knowing I couldn't race just because of a harness. This really blows.

Man you guys this is more than I could ask for. I will definately take you up on the sub belt mount if you don't mind me using it. I have one other tentative thing that may hold me back(money), but I might have a solution from a family member.

You guys make me have faith in humanity still. This is honestly the nicest thing anyone has done for me since my dad died back in april. I will be in touch often throughout the day and I'll get contact info from all you guys that said you'd be willing to help a guy like me out that you don't even know....thanks guys it means a lot.

Ok I'm waiting to hear from my family member at 3-3:30 this afternoon to see if I can make this work. If I can I will probably just drop in to Josh's shop on Friday when I get there in the afternoon and get the crotch bar and harnesses installed, that is if Josh doesn't mind me using his parking lot to install it there...

I had some bills come up beginning of this month I wasn't planning on having to pay and payed them with the money I was going to use on renting a 07 F-250 6.4 tow rig, then the harness thing came to light, then I couldn't find one, I was pretty much set on not going and was just about to cancel my hotel. I have till 6 p.m. tomorrow to cancel, I just hope I can make it. If for the said reason I don't make it I will be at LSX Shootout in Indy.
