Default "TCS off" light randomly comes on?

Just started after replacing my alternator. My Traction Control off light will just come on at random, as if I pushed the button, but I haven't. When it comes on like that, pushing the button does nothing. Then, it will just go off on its own, and the button will begin functioning normally again. Idk what's causing it, sometimes itll stay on a few hours, other times a few minutes. Then, it may not come on for 3 or 4 days, then randomly pop up again. Ideas?

I read the other guys post in the thread about this light acting up but he also had his ABS light and brake lights on. Neither of those come on with me, so I think my problem may be different. Anyone know anything?

double check your ground wires, if it is started after you switched the alternator retrace your steps and check the wire connections

its really funny that you say that because I'm starting to think mine may be going bad.. Every now and then when I get in my car in the morning it will start normal, then all of a sudden the idle jumps up to about 1600-2000.. It may keep idling high for several hours or may quit in 5 minutes. Its real random. and other times, never idles high at all. So I was thinking TPS, and then you mention that!

But what does the TPS have to do with the TCS????? lol

Hey, I know this thread is a few months old, but if you're still having this problem I vote TPS too. I just had the exact same symptoms, random TCS light, high idle whenever the clutch was in or the car wasn't in gear. I hooked up HPTuners and saw that my TPS % was 1% at idle where it should have been at 0%. The TPS voltage was also high. I put a new TPS in and it solved both issues.
