Default Stall a high mileage transmission?

My 4l60e has around 135K on it. I have no problems with it and it shifts good. I recently dropped the pan and changed the filter and fluid and everything looked ok, no burnt fluid or metal stuck to the magnet.

There was a little sludge in the pan and i could feel a few small metal particles in the sludge.

Also added a 26K Hayden cooler in front the of a/c condenser

My question is would it be ok to add a mild stall 3000-3200 on a high mileage trans like this or would I just it blow up ?

Has anyone put a mild stall on a high mileage trans and what was their experience?

my trans had 130,000 on it and i put a 3200 stall in it and it worked fine. I loved it. If you havent got a stall yet i have a BDR 3200 stall 10" stall it a year old i gave 450.00 for it ill take 300.00. It has about 800 miles on it

I would also install a deeper trans pan.

The stall will be harder on your transmission and probably shorten its life. I don't know if I would drop the money on a brand new stall but if you can find a good used one that might be a better option.

My car has 140k and I installed a PI 3600 stall converter about 1,000 miles ago with an external trans cooler seems to be fine so far and I'm pretty hard on the car

It could be okay, but I would plan on buying a new trans just in case. My 4l60e blew in my t/a with similar mileage with no stall so it is all a crap shoot

Yea, there is no real way to know. If it appears your trans is in good shape and you have a good cooler to go with the stall I don't see why not. Like others said I would save some money just in case it does go.

Would it be unwise to buy a new stall and re-use it on a new transmission if the old one blows up?

No it wouldn't you just need to flush it if it did go out

If its in good condition and you say its shifting good I would say its ok. Not as high as yours but I just did my yank 3600 a few thousand miles ago. All is good.

I personally have issues with buying some used parts. Converters are one of them.
