Default My latest mods finally completed: S60, CM-DS, Spohn T/A, Drag Sway, LCA’s, PHBR

My S60 delivered & unpacked.

-Strange Engineering PRSF10
-35-spline Pro Race axles
-axles drilled & tapped for 1/2”x4.5”, 4.75” & 5/8”x4.75” studs
-35-spline spool
-1350 series pinion yoke
-4.10 ring and pinion
-2”x1/2” wheel studs
-BMR adjustable (3-hole) lower control arm brackets (welded)
-Strange Engineering 3" Chrome-moly driveshaft with transmission yoke and 1350 U-joints

Thank you Carl at Central Racing Parts (CRP).

Spohn drag sway bar, lower control arms, chassis mounted torque arm & panhard bar rod. All rod-ends.

Thank you Steve at Hawks Camaro for price matching a killer deal & quick shipping.

Cleaned & etched with POR-15’s Marine-Clean & Metal-Ready.

Coated with POR-15.

Out with the old 10-bolt.

In with the new S60.

S60 completed.

Sphon drag sway bar & panhard bar rod.

Spohn chassis mounted torque arm & lower control arms.

Notice the drag sway bar has offsets to clear the shocks like the BMR’s and UMI’s. I was planning on the “straight” style Spohn drag bar which others have been able to fit to the “stock” sway bar mounts. With this “new” style, I ended up having to cut off the “stock” sway bar mounts and used the Spohn mounts. There is plenty of clearance from the shocks though. If you plan to run a drag sway bar, remember to order a rear without the “stock” sway bar mounts as I did not.

After the Strange recommended ring and pinion break-in, I realized I would hate the rod-ended suspension in a predominantly street driven car. The rod-ended components have made the rear end sound like it is ready to literally fall out. If this was predominantly a street car, I would not be running rod ends. At slow speed turns, the spool actually accentuates the noise of the rod-ended components. Since this is predominantly a drag car, I look forward to “no binding performance” of the rod-ended components.

You can see the brake lines in the last two pics. Just reuse your stock ones.

Thanks ... Actually, I never disconnected my stock brake lines. The S60 is larger than the 10-bolt so the brake lines sit on the rear in a different location and I could not use the brake line tabs Strange provided. I was able to bolt the brake line tee bracket onto the S60 in the provided tapped hole so the brake lines are secure. Keep in mind that this was a 3-channel rear ... single line from the ABS module splitting to two lines at the rear. Since I am running a spool, the ABS is deactivated and I will add an ABS delete kit with a line lock install.

Also note that while my stock springs were out I did perform the "hose mod" so the rear would not be so high with the larger axle tubes on the S60.

Thanks ... it has been a busy few months and I wanted to share everything I got done. Since there are two topics, I made two posts. Thanks for commenting on both.

that's the plan ... at least when I find some RaceStars and slicks. I may do some 1/8 mile passes on the street Nitto's to get a base line.
