Default New guy!!!

Just bought a V last week- 2005 with 46k miles. What an awesome car to drive everyday...

Feel free to lay on any and all tips/advice/recommendations.

Doing my research now- really like the magnaflow exhaust(16636). Looking at V1 radars... saw a recent thread on those. Looking for HID fog lights

what do you recommend for the wheel hot kit? I priced it out and for a BMR kit is $300, but with the pinion supprot brace, heavy duty toe rods, trailing arms, etc like $1200-$1400

you completely cut out the muffler?

Cut the muffler off as close to the can as you can. Have an exhaust guy bent and weld straight pipes where the muffler used to be. Don't forget to buy tips for it

Don't waste ur money on an "anti wheelhop kit". Get axles from geforce. $500

OR, you could leave the mufflers on the rear, remove the resonator and put in an x pipe and place electric cutouts on the angled pipes right before the rear mufflers. Quiet on the highway in 6th, and NASTY when you want it to be.

www.DDMTuning.com for the HID fogs

IIRC the stock bulbs are around 4200K, so youll need to get 4000K bulbs in 35w to be close in color.

They also sell D1S replacement bulbs, which is what I got. 6000K fogs and low beams

Enjoy the car!

I bought new bulbs and ballasts because I only wanted to do it once. IIRC, it was about $160 for 2 bulbs, and 2 ballasts. Then the fog light kit was about $30 for the 2 bulbs and 2 ballasts.

BTW, get H10 bulbs for the fogs.

So, for about $200 shipped, you can get all new light bulbs, and new ballasts, as well as HID fogs. Only thing is, you'll need to cut the harness going to the stock ballast and tie it into the new ballast because its "universal" and will not mount where the stock one is.

So, the stock ballast in the headlights will sit there just to block the hole up, but the new ballasts just fit right in the access hole, and thats where I put mine. Been fine for months.

I'll have to snap some.

I had 3000K fogs (yellow) and they were kinda cool for awhile, but the coolness wore off, plus I felt like I was driving a Honda.

The only good thing about the yellow light is that they are AWESOME in bad weather (rain, fog, etc)

BUT, DDMTuning sells replacement bulbs for $12.50 a pair, so you could always just buy both.

Thanks MEaty and everyone else for all the help... have been falling in love with this car everyday since i got it.

I just got my tires in today, plan on mounting them soon. Im looking at the Geforce wheel hop kit, as recommended by someone on here. Do u think its a good idea to go ahead and put it on as a precaution? currently not expereincing wheel hop. Looked at rear end solutions- way to expensive right now, since mine has no problems. I do have a lot of noise in the rear and purchased a bushing that i saw needed to be replaced, hoping thats the problem. Some knocking noise occasionally in and out of gears. I think part of it is me, part of it is how these cars are and partly bc of the bushing, am i right? or it is just me????

Saw a K+N intake for like $250, really want to get the fog lights to match th head lights and maybe get the lenses cleaned on the headlights. Got to hear a magnaflow exhaust on a V, loved the sound bc it was not to much but babrown recommended just cutting the muffler off... checked out some coilovers, also really expensive...

Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks for all the help guys and for making me feel welcome. sorry for babbling but thought you guys would be interested in getting some input before i get some awful sounding exhaust or overpay for somethign that you could have helped if i just asked

Some knocking? As in it sounds like maybe your motor is knocking back and forth?

Knocking can mean a lot of things. Easiest thing to do to look under you car, Tire Kingdom offers a FREE something number point car inspection, where they basically find a way to sell you something. I use this "service" whenever I look at buying, or buy a new car to get a good look underneath at everything. I just ask the guy doing the inspection 'Hey, can I take a look underneath at a few things?" They usually say yes. Some may say "No" due to insurance regulations or some mumbo jumbo.

Your "knocking" could be due to worn motor mounts and/or transmission mount. $400 from Creative Steel.

But without driving the car, I can't really diagnose by just a "knocking" description. I'd put money on motor mounts if they haven't been done recently.
